New Dakar Yellow M3 owner. How much did you pay for extended warranty?

Hi guys,

I picked up 2012 BMW M3 Competition Package in Dakar Yellow on Christmas Eve.

This car had 24 000km on it and as I am planning on keeping this vehicle for some time, I decided to purchase Secure Drive extended warranty on the M3.

SecureDrive Mechanical Breakdown Protection - Elite Plan for $5000+tax upto 120 000km for 3 extra years. $250 deductible per visit.

Basically this plan covers everything except for exhaust and emission systems, batteries, shock absorbers, MacPherson struts, clutch assembly, lots of other stuff. (cosmetic items, accessory items, and maintenance related items)

Looks like E92 M3 is a very solid car and some people have never used their warranty. I've never bought a used car before and thus I am bit worried about running without any warranty coverage. I thought about just buying power train warranty, but the price difference wasnt that much and so I decided to go all in.

How much did you guys pay for your extended coverage? Did I pay too much? Is it worth it?

i paid $2,700 for 4yr 75000mile extended warranty. This was also my first used car. i read so much about rod bearing failures, so i ended up buying the warranty to be safe.

I also have a 4 year 100k mile warrenty car had 40k when I got it. It was 2800. 0 deductable. There are many threads on this.

I paid $3500 for another 5yr +100kmi with ZERO deductible. That is the companies Platinum protection.

I went with the DIY Platinum Package for my M3. Unlimited mileage, $0 down, $0 due at signing, %100 due upon failure. No questions asked!
