Introduction....New to me 2008 e90 6spd M3

Hello All,

Just purchased a new to me 2008 e90 M3. I'm excited to be a part of this forum. I was very active over at m3forum with my e46 M and hope I can be usefull over here. I'm an avid DIYer and hope I can contribute. I look forward to being a part of the group.

So far I've completed tho cup holder mod, changed all my fluids, changed my plugs, added Test Pipes, and got a Frank Smith Tune.

Now for some pictures:

Congrats, looks like the seller added an aftermarket front bumper as well!

Thoughts on the move to the e90M after driving an e46M or are you keeping both?

Thoughts.....Well I wanted to keep the e46 but just didn't want to be a two car guy. Space and lifestyle prevent that so far. As many have said they are just two different cars. Two different personalitlies but both M cars for sure. I miss the torque of the e46 but love the power of the e90. I find myself hanging out in lower gears in the e90 so I can enjoy the power above 4k rpms. The e90 is deffinelty more comfortable and my wife likes its more. The B pillar in the e90 is annoying becuase it creates a new blind spot my coupe didn't have. Seems the maintenance is easier as well on the e90....As many now the e46 is quite needy. The e46 will always have a place in my heart because it was my first BMW and my first M and I had wanted one ever since I can remember. Would still have her if my boss wasn't on my case about getting a four door. I'm in sales with a car allowance so the boss can kind of dictate which car I get. Sooooo....I went and got 4 doors.

Also...You just can't beat the sound of that V8 at wide open throttle!

I wish there were a cup holder delete for the E90, like I had for the E86M.

welcome nice transition.
It takes more than a good couple of months to get oneself fully adapted to the s65 and 6MT but once you know how to balance the throttle / RPM / and MT each drive is pure bliss. The 6MT + throttle is heavenly if you are willing to learn the car.

Made the same switch from E46 M3 to E90 M3 a little more than a year ago and i can really relate. Like you, i thought about keeping both (which i did for a while) but then i finally had to let the E46 go, although yes, it will always have a special spot in my heart.

Both the S54 and S65 are sonorous sweethearts

Enjoy in good health!

Why yes it is...never seen the color before until I picked this up. While I love all white and black I feel I got a great color.

Welcome! Beautiful color. Great car.

I also made the same switch two years ago. In my case, I came from a 2006 Imola Red E46 M3. It too was my first. I only had it for a couple of years before trading up

Apart from the increased power in the E90 M3, the thing I first noticed was the difference in sound between the two cars. Initially, I much preferred the sound of the E46 M. Of course, the E90 M has its own signature which has grown on me.

Enjoy!
