M3 2 Week Review

I drove my MWM M3 from KY to FL a few weeks ago. The care is basically loaded minus the carbon brakes.

All I can say is I LOVE IT! It's extremely fast, sounds amazing, pulls like a demon, handles beutifully, looks freaking amazing and is just an absolutely awesome set of wheels. With the windows down, hearing the turbos spooling is Killer.

I have zero complaints and I've owned 6 M3s starting with 1995 through 2005. It's better in every way than my previous M cars. The DCT is light years better than the SMG. I also had a 2007 335i Seadan.

Some of the complaints I've read are almost comical. Everyone is entitled to their opinions I guess, but I can tell you the car is OUTSTANDING!!

PS: Side and Top view camera are a must have if you want to protect your investment.

Sadly, having a top view camera does nothing to protect you from all of the other folks without a top view camera. I'm comfortable & confident parallel parking my own car without a camera. I don't feel the same about other drivers/parkers.

Can you elaborate on why the top and side view cameras are a must have Personally, I find the rear view camera more than sufficient to parallel park a car.

Kind of agree here, as the back up camera along with the passenger side mirror with its ability to tilt downward to view the blindside of the car while parking is pretty much sufficient in keeping the rims looking good and the tires off the curb. Though the full view cameras can be a plus when/if you need to pull into tigh places, though I can't see most of us ever trying to squeeze our cars into anything less than a doublewide!

Great summary review. The F80/82 owners wouldn't have anything bad to say about the way the car drives. The negative comments usually come from those who are currently in the E9x M3s who are trying to talk themselves out of making the switch. I keep telling them they have to own one to understand and you came from 6 M3s. Boost is addicting.

I only have 1 complaint. The sound system is lousy, my company's car (2015 Nissan Altima) has better sound system compared to the hi-fi. Even the HK isn't that much better. My first BMW, 2006 330i had way better sound system compared to my F80 with Hi-Fi. I'm fixing it with BavSound Stage 1 which comes in this week.

The side and top view cameras also takes away from the "clean" look, if you will, of the vehicle. I hate the black circle that you see on front bumpers with cameras!

I can tell you from personal experience that the birds' eye view allows me on a daily basis to park very closely (particularly with respect to the sides of the car) to the curb/parking garage pylon/or any other obstruction without having to worry about potential curb rash, etc.

I've used the side cameras when there are obstructions such as trees, bushes, or buildings blocking my view on either side of the car, particularly when turning left or right at a stop sign.

I'm almost in the same boat as you. I've had 2 other m3's and a 335i N54 and this car is leagues above any car I've ever driven/owned. Loving it.

rear view is sufficient but top view allows you to fly right into the spot with really no mistakes unless you are a complete idiot. Also great for when parking in the "end spot" and getting as close to that curb as possible so the dick in 82 Camera doesnt hit your car. You can use the mirror tilt is parking next to curb on that side but if hte curb is on the drivers side top view is a must.

Its very cool actually. The image on the screen is like a camera is pointing down at your car as your moving. You can see everything around you within 2 ft of the car in all directions. There are cameras under the rear view mirrors and at the back of the car. I use is every time I park to avoid parking barriers and making sure I'm parked within the lines.

Love it!

I have the HK system and after dialing in the EQ, it sounds amazing. I listen to everything and have just about everything on my iPhone. I like it loud but I don't push it like I did when I was a kid... I'm sure if you push it to hard it will start to clip out. I would add that I'm a musician and use professional recording gear and studio monitors. Take that for what its worth...

A few guys on this forum with HK replaced their speakers with BavSound Stage 1, they swear that the result is worth every penny (cleaner mids and highs / no distortion / flat EQ setting). That's what pushed me to purchase BavSound for my standard hi-fi. If it's better than HK's speakers, it'll be better than my hi-fi speakers. Worth checking them out since you have an ear for great sound.

I couldn't live with out the top view cameras but I am struggling to find uses for the side cameras.

Can someone help give me examples of what you use your left and right cameras for?

Thx

I don't use them... To be honest, I can't figure out what the hell I'm looking at when they are on...

With a black car you don't see the black circles. I agree the top and side cameras are a must. I have had this system in several cars and it just makes it easier to park in tight spaces. I can park without them but why? I will take advantage of the technology. I imagine people once said the same thing when power steering first came out.

Me too . . . I can park w/ or w/o sensors and cameras. I really have no idea what I looking at. LOL Happily, I admit this after someone has come forward.

I ordered the cameras on my F80 (BSM, so they won't stand out). I did just the cameras by themselves, not the whole package.
