Recaro Pole Positions NOT Safe.. Will Not Pass Tech

wondered who saw this besides me. pole positions with production # CS.997.00 will not pass spec and it has been stated by RECARO that in recent tests these seats do not hold up in accidents and form cracks where they bolt to the mounts. the results were that the seats would separate from the mounts. it is clearly stated by RECARO THAT THESE SEATS SHOULD NOT BE USED...i have attached the actual memo

Why did you chose those seats? Always thought they were a model for show cars and Starbucks hard parkers!

after sitting in my friends profi xl that would be the seat i go to next.. fits better and the shoulder harness holes are better for people with longer torso's.. the holes in the pp are almost too low

Ugh... my favorite seat. So are these spacers a real thing? Is the pole position going to be discontinued?

well my concern with the spacer issue is that there is no room for a spacer if you use MS side mounts as they are too tight..

its funny you bring up them being discontinued and not too long ago i spoke to a RECARO REP at a professional race and it was stated recaro was discontinuing their street line and will only be producing oem upgraded seats and race seats.. what kind of truth there is to that im not sure but recaro has been making changes to their line including price increases and specially to the pole position as it went up 100$ a seat

That's strange, wouldn't that be dictated by the bottom mount the side mount is bolted to? Unless the MS bottom mounts don't allow for enough adjustability. A wider bottom mount would need to be fabricated to correct the problem.

Recaro has been through a lot of changes after it was acquired by Johnson Controls a few years back. I don't necessarily "appreciate" some of the changes but I do understand where they are coming from and why the changes are being made.

Well, From what I have learned is that they went through a bunch of changes that were implemented from legal standpoints on the distribution of their products. This got me stuck in a custom order that I placed 5 months before which ended up not being fulfilled due to these reasons. Later leaving me to scramble to secure probably the last pair of Recaro SPG XLs in the country at that moment do to a production hold.

Changes for the future? One thing I am pretty sure of is who will be distributing recaro products and who wont be. Not sure on the whole "street line" situation...

Also, Stating that PP's aren't safe is a little bit of a stretch. It is a safe seat. It just doesn't meat updated FIA regulations. For the weekend warrior/hard parker it will be perfectly fine.

I have used my recaro Pole Position in 3 different cars now. always ran washers to reinforce the mounting holes. Anyways I wouldn't pick this seat for W2W racing. need proper seat with halo around the head. Profi Spa Hans or Sparco Pro ADV.
