I actually agree completely with the other 9/10. But if I lived in, say, California...would be hard to avoid getting the vert.
oh well. funny list all the same.

I've noticed that certain people who cannot comfortably acquire performance vehicles tend to be very frustrated by those who can and choose to trade some of that performance for other attributes. To these people, a convertible M4 perhaps looks more like a big middle finger in their face and they get testy about it.

To some extent the author does have a point, but m4 vert is real badass and for actual car enthusiast that loves the vert, the author is not addressing them.

Ha ha, funny article! Honda Pilot - total poseur's car!
I, for one, would love to be a poseur in a Lamborghini Aventador (at least for a little while or every other weekend...)! That said, as usual, there is a kernel of truth in many generalizations...

I see both sides of the vert debate. On one side, most of us constantly bitch and complain about the weight of the newest gen M cars. And then we have a very small faction of people who want to add xxxlbs at the worst possible spot on the car just to feel the wind in their hair and/or be seen. Obviously BMW sells enough of them to offset the R&D costs so until the demand isn't there we will have to keep our XX3 brothers in the family.
But as for the poser comment, I think that's a dick move?

Usually, people that want convertibles get convertibles. If I really wanted one, then an M4 vert would probably be near the top of the list.

Funny, but I'm going to guess that the author has never driven it...or any of the other cars on the list, although he does sounds like a corvette kind of guy.
For the record, even thought the cars are much heavier, most of the added weight in the e93 and f83 verts is in the mechanism in the trunk. |
