carbon strut brace quality of carbon structure

Hey everyone,

I have seen a few of the carbon strut braces which most of them showed kind of poor woven area in the front right (if standing in front of engine bay). So the area where the strut brace curves from the front towards the rear.
Unfortunately mine is also quite poorly woven there.

Has this also happened with you? I am wondering to complain and request a new strut brace due to the cosmetic defect .

Is it just me being a little over picky...?

Otherwise, a fantastic car...

Very picky. How often are you actually looking under the hood. If it was a structural defect/problem I'd say something, but otherwise I'd let it go.

Imperfections it the weave are expected, especially where it curves a lot. The brace in that pic above looks fine (and beautiful!!!).

Imperfect Strut Brace or Buyer's Remorse!

Two things come to mind when I saw this post. 1. Are you an engineer in non metallic structures? 2. Are you feeling a tad overwhelmed at what you just purchased? You did spend a lot of money and perhaps your expectation is very high and your account may now be significantly lower than it was. Your signature line does not indicate what car you have, ergo my "May" comment. I know mine, my savings account that is, will be lower when I place my order, CF weave be damned.

I'd be more worried about that hose clamp not clamped at a perfect angle.

Are all the bolt heads aligned too...? Looks pretty fine to me, perhaps perfection is not to be expected.

....as is traditional with anyone who nit picks a tiny flaw, i dub thee the new coming (what is this now? 4th? 5th?) of dearly departed professional worrier Nullcheck. You are his german cousin, i guess.....

hahaha.

just kidding.

I can't see the flaw, but given the material in question (an advanced manufactured carbon fibre/plastic 'rope' that has sufficient structural rigidity to support something as massive as a car) and what is being done at that particular point (The bending, stretching, etc) i might not expect Zegna or Canali quality stitching right there.....i mean, give the poor ///M tailors a break man.

No worries...this can be an informative but tough crowd. If you spend 70 grand on a car, you (and I also) would expect attention to detail. Unless there is a crack in the carbon fiber, I would forget about it.

Wow, just wow!

This place is such a social experiment! You have so many people who will warp out about the slightest flaw or imperfection and then you also have tons of people who will slap all kinds of knockoff carbon junk on their cars. I often wonder how some of you make it through a single day with such things weighing on your minds.

LOL we make fun of ourselves and others, that's the whole point of a forum with car geeks.

I've read for the last eight days a what's app chain about tuning a car I DO NOT own. It's all good, and just hand us our assess when needed.

For the record, I can't see a flaw in it either, but I'm not as anal as the guys here.

I agree with you, but on one hand we're talking about a structural component in engine bay bracing that immediately impacts steering response and handling.

On the other you're talking about cosmetic flair that is stuck on using double sided tape.

Quite the opposites in importance, I'm sure you'd agree

Poor Tyrolean got a smack-down in this thread... Ouch!

Don't worry the adhesive bond that secures the brace to the mounting brackets will fail long before the support.
