seriously, I feel like something is wrong with me. there is no latch or lever??

in the trunk. look under the package shelf. one lever on each side.

There is a latch, one on each side and under the rear parcel deck inside the trunk. You can't miss it unless you're blind lol

And when you put them back up, make sure they lock! I almost ended up with an SO interior colored by a jack Russell when I fucked this up.

That's a respectable time! I would share my experience that was similar but I've used all mu blond points for the week already. What I have learned over the years is that no matter the problem, drive to Ikea and the parking lot will sort it out. I figured out how to unfold the seats there a month back and with the Q7 I found the heated / ventilated seats there after getting burned by the leather.

When in doubt, go to Ikea.

Just for general information, you could look stuff up in the owners manual, and it even gives you a little picture I believe.

I know that's not a guy thing, looking at the manual, but it is an option.
