Longboarder Test Drives new M4

Alpine white on cloth M4 DCT carbon roof with 18's wrapped in PSS. pretty much ready for the track. And this will be the shortest review ever. One word:

Meh.

LOL. I'd say much of the m3/4 crowd would be here to defend, but they are still trying to wrap their heads around how the Mustang GT has better steering feel.
The m3/4 are losing left and right in comparos, on and off track, and in things more subjective like best performance car or best driver's car, its falling way short.

I also test drove a 2008 CLK63 AMG Black Series today. The M4 was faster and the DCT is a way better transmission. But I liked the AMG better. There is soul to that car. Like there is soul to the e9X M3. I didn't feel the same about the M4. It's a very nice car and the technology is terrific but I just didn't feel inspired and excited whatsoever driving it.

Have you actually sat in a new Mustang? That thing is a freaken boat. To the point I didn't even bother test driving it.

Look, I happen to like the F80, but not enough to get rid of my E92 for it. I have yet to see the M3/4 losing to a comparo that actually made sense to me. The only one, that IMHO matters is when it'll go up against the C63, RS4/5 and CTS/V.

Losing the best performance car, psh. Did we expect it to beat a GT3? Or how Sutcliffe compared it to an Alpina and preferred it because it had a better ride?

P.S. Please don't bring up POrsche, please.

Hey Longboarder - at what point is it acceptable to refer to yourself in the third person?

Slicer has been waiting for the proper time.

My thoughts exactly.....if you own a supercharged e9x m, there is absolutely no reason to jump ship. If its NA it still a tough decision imo.

lol...my son started doing it when he was like 2 years old. he's 5 now. it was pretty hilarious...sounded fully gangster and I encourage it and so he still does it sometimes. my wife hates it as does his teachers at the prissy private school he goes to. but I love it.

The F80 I checked out didn't click with me either. I liked the car but there really weren't any sparks. Different car, different character that isn't my thing apparently. The chemistry just isn't there for me...c'est la vie.

I think the opinion varies greatly depending on whether you have(driven) boosted S65 or not, those who have will usually not be amazed with S55 while those who come from NA V8 could get fascinated with boost/seat of the pants feeling.

I couldn't agree more. I have 0 interest in the new platform given how amazing the E9X is with a blower. I honestly wouldn't take the new M3/M4 if they offered it as a straight trade for my car.
