Wheels or Exhaust?
So let's say you have $6000 to play with ... do you replace the wheels to get wider rubber and better traction and maybe a better looking wheel (I think BMW nailed the black OEM wheel this time ... it's just not wide enough) or do you replace the exhaust and get something better looking and better sound?
Assume you did just one of these mods ... discuss ...

I'd get new wheels and tires first to see what other exhausts are released over the next several months.

Staying stock huh?
For me, wheels (and preferably a drop to go with it). The stock exhaust sounds just fine to me, but the wheels will transform the car. Not to mention you get the benefit of fitting wider tires which IMO, the car can always use. I honestly have yet to hear an aftermarket exhaust on the F80 and thought wow, really gotta have it. Unlike on the E9x...

I say go with wheels.
The exhaust market for this car still has a ways to go to IMHO. I personally prefer the Magnaflow custom setup someone posted here a while back, that was only ~$1500 as far as I can remember. I just can't justify spending $4k+ on an exhaust. |

TBH, You may be able to do both... Just get downpipes and get a set of Forgestar or Volk's. There's also the new flowform line up by HRE and Vorsteiner that are under 3k.

I already posted but I changed my mind. Wheels and exhaust tips. I think the tips are the only thing that need an upgrade unless you think 8-9lb savings is worth $8-9k

I wanna say exhaust you can get an MPE with Carbon tips for $5K, the only aftermarket wheels I really want are HRE s101 and they cost about $9K

Seems like there are some nice exhaust tip options coming out for 10% of that cost. Thats what I would do. The stock exhaust sounds nice in Sport+ IMO.

I love the way the car sounds stock, start up and drone noise do not bother me but I'd like more volume in the low RPMs and I would like louder turbos.

They are coming out w/ black ones this week from what PSI said. Not sure if they will come out w/ a carbon option. The silver ones are $495 and PSI said the black will likely be a tad more. Do this and secondary cat delete. You will probably be pretty close to MPE for under 1k. |

Already have the KW HAS that @karussell installed at his new shop in Augusta. I'll get some pics up in a few days. Leaning towards wheels because I think wider rubber will really help performance. The car overpowers it's 275s too easily.
