Woke up today and said lets smash my car!!!

Not really but that's what happened. Guy backed into me at a gas station. Had a nice big trailer hitch on his truck so no damage on his end. Great way to start my day.

+1, in a way you're lucky the damage is concentrated on 1 spot. Someone clipped my rear quarter panel of my other car and managed to tag right side rear bumper, rear right quarter panel, rear right wheel, left edge of right passenger door and my rocker. WTF!

I agree. Your lucky it was the door and that your rear quarter panel is good. Sucks but coulda been worse.

That sucks. What a horrible feeling. I've had people back into several of my cars, and each time I walk up to my car in a parking lot I look for damage. Hopefully his insurance covers the complete cost of the repair.

Let's just say it's totalled if it doesn't buff out.

I'd have a hard time not beating the crap out of the pick up truck-driving idiot.

Door or front-1/4's, you're in the clear. Well...at least clear-er. Definitely blows to see your whip smashed. Rear quarter's are a bitch, but on the flip-side...perfect if you have the conversion in mind.

Horrible and I feel bad, but super easy fix. New door, new paint on door. Lucky it hit one panel as they said. Could have been SO much worse.

My neighbor in her suburban backed out of her driveway into my son's car that was parked at the curb across the street. His door looked like your door. She knocked on our door to tell us. When we went out to look at the damage, she exclaimed happily, "it didn't do any damage to my car." She had a trailer hitch as well. Her insurance paid.

Sorry about you car.

Sorry to see the damage to your door. It could have been much worse, and I am thankful for you that it wasn't. Can't just rub some dirt on this one. Can't wait til you are fixed.

Bad day indeed. Have you contacted your or his insurance yet? My insurance has encouraged me to deal with the other party's insurance before. I called them to see how they were and it wasn't bad so I did it. Don't sign anything absolving them of responsibility, at least until you are 100% happy with the repairs. I never signed a release. If something shows up later you might have difficulty getting it paid but who knows and why take them off the hook?

Yes called them right after I called my own. So far so good but I'll be going over everything with a fine tooth comb believe me.

Unfortunately they're going to spray front and back quarter panels in addition to the new door which they'll install.

Easy fix. Will be good as new, don't sweat it.

Trust me, could have been SO much worse...

I just got home after spending 4 hours at the emergency room with my son. Someone RAN A RED LIGHT IN THEIR PRIUS and totaled (probably) his BEAUTIFUL 2011 Semi-custom Mustang. Someone totaled his last one last year at a red light too (that was a black 2007 Mustang).

He is OK. Thought his arm was broken, but just "severe contusion". We are all relieved, of course.

We might go check out some used 128s, not sure yet. I can afford maint. on a 1er, not sure if he can.
