M3/M4 vs RCF

Wow!!! Shows how much people care about the new RCF. Looks like Lexus is going to fail again with the car just like the ISF's.

If demand on the RCF is really very poor, maybe there will be 8k+ discount on it soon. That would be nice. I personally think it's one of the best looking cars out there, much better than any BMW (except i8).

How exactly did the ISF fail? It matched every performance metric of that generation of M3.

+1...i may be biased because I own an ISF, but the 2011+ did match the e90 m3 in performance, even on a road course.

But, I'd still take the M4 over the RCF any day of the week.

Looks like this is the Nike edition, from looking at the headlights.

No, I just think there are many things that are subjective. Don't get me wrong, I really like the looks of the 5 and 3 series, that's why I own one of each...

However I really like the IS/RC look. I think the new Lexus spindle look, especially in its most aggressive form on the IS/RC F and Fsport trims, is really love it or hate it. Many people can't stand them, while many find them to be really amazing designs.

There also other designes that I think are universally liked. For example, I really like the look of the new Boxster, which aparently you drive. I think also in general almost everyone finds the new gen boxsters and caymans to be beautiful.

The one car I see frequently in company garadge that I find to be really ugly is the new Jeep Cherokee with the 4 lights... really weird looking.

That's a big gap if a truly objective test. But there's no way to verify that everything was fair. The video points out a lack of traction in the Audi / BMW, which is not something I would have expected to hear about the Audi. I do know that the test track is very dusty.

Interesting test. AMCI has a quite a few video tests on youtube showing the GS beating the 5 series from 2012 and 2014, and now the RC-F thrashing the M4 by 3 seconds on a 1.8 mile cone "track" they set up.

Justin Bell is the test driver, but has also been on Lexus' payroll since 2010 if I remember correctly, when he helped launch the LF-A. Isn't he a brand ambassador for Lexus?

I suppose if you can't have the journalism you want, pay for some.

From AMCI's FB page, yeah, they sound very neutral, definitely not a marketing or brand consulting firm. If they weren't so greedy with a 3 second gap no one might have noticed, but seriously did they make Justin wear his helmet backwards or was the paycheck enough?

Looks like Justin hosted this video for Lexus.

I recently attended a RC F test drive event. There was a very good turn out. They had 8 RC Fs available to drive on the track in a lead/follow format and 2 M4s on hand to drive with an instructor riding shotgun.

They also had a variety of Lexus cars along with a A5, Mercedes C class, BMW 435i on hand to drive on an autocross circuit.

Talking to people attending the event, I was left feeling that Lexus was selling a lot of BMWs that day.

There's certainly a market for the RC F and there is certainly some overlap with M3/M4 buyers, particularly those looking for a reasonably quick but comfortable sport coupe. Those focused more on performance aren't likely to fall in love with the RC F though.
