Leather Restoration

I have a 2011 135i with the Lemon leather interior and my seats are starting to become very dry, they haven't started cracking but I would like to try to get them well conditioned. I bought the Meguires leather cleaner/conditioner wipes but I doubt those will make much of a difference. Any recommendations?

I've tried the Leatherique and was not that impressed. This summer I bought a Swissvax Leather Cleaner Kit... and frankly I was blown away by the results. The Swissvax stuff isn't cheap, but there is no denying the results. I'm hooked on Swissvax products now.

The key to Leatherique is to apply it during a long hot spell. I have seen great results from people I know who lather it up on the seat surface and wrap the seats with saran wrap. They leave it under the sun with all the windows closed and let it bake for a day or two.

I used leatherique.... works great, but it does take a while and you do want to do it in the summer time to let your car bake. You can't really use the car during this time, because the seats will definitely be sticky. Once you let it sit for a while and do the cleanup, there is no residue or smell and the seats are nice and soft. I only plan on doing this once a year with basic maintenance in between with some chemical guys cleaner/moisturizer.

If your leather is really filthy, then you'll need a two-step process, a cleaner and then a preservative. Mothers, Meguiars, or any of the others work OK.

I use Mothers VLR which is a cleaner and preservative all in one. It works perfectly and saves a lot of time and effort.

all in one cleaner/conditioners are normally good for newer surfaces.

the 1Z Leather Care is a perfect example (http://www.detailersdomain.com/1Z-ei...ege_p_500.html)

the 2 step process that you recommended is ideal. as mentioned, the leather master strong cleaner, then leather master Vital Conditioner make a great combination for the job.

you can but the kit or just the 2 bottles (cheaper version). checkout the pics on here ===> http://www.detailersdomain.com/Leath...Kit_p_548.html

Thanks for the article. I'll definitely look in to the 1Z products. The Plastic Deep Cleaner is safe on leather?

It is safe and a little goes a very long way, a side effect if you use to much would it will make the leather a bit tacky. If that happens you would need to make sure you remove all of it, a damp mf cloth would be good in that situation.
