e92 m3 front windshield top rubber molding

so go figure my 08 m3 has its top rubber molding cracking and falling apart. I've searched here and seen that a one piece can be bought and slides right in. it's only the top sections not the full 3 piece kit. has anyone had experience with this or do people remove the glass and buy a whole section molding. thanks.

Can it be installed the way the dyi is. Or does the window itself need to be removed?

If you notice that's the sides and top al together. The e90 is separated. The top is a different piece. I'm assuming the coupes its a full assembly? And the sedans have a separate top rubber molding.

Windshield does not need to be removed. There are DIY on e90post re: this. It should be pretty simple.

but it's weird when you see the e92 m3 platform it's a 3 piece shown above but the e90 m3 and other platforms don't have the 3 piece but your positive it can be just replaced the upper portion and that's all? just no info on this around lol

Garage List
  • The E92 Windshield Moulding is ONE (1) piece - top & sides
  • It can be done without removing the windshield
  • That DIY is for E90 - most of it will be relevant, except for the part where he describes starting the side pieces at the middle & sliding them up into the gap.

Obviously that part does not apply to the E92 as the side pieces are not separate as on E90...

I can confirm that you don't need to remove the windshield. I just replaced my window glazing on my E92 M3. It was quite simple, just used a non-maring tool to press in the sides and the top portion I just pushed in by hand.

The only thing I would caution on is make sure you clean the areas next to the windshield really well and scrape the glass of all the left over residue from the old moulding. Also be very careful not to put sudden pressure or strike the corners/edges if the windshield, it can cause a crack.
