When should I place my ED order for a Mid-June delivery?

I'm ordering a M3 via ED and have a strong preference for the dates. I want to have the car re-delivered by June 21st (heading out then for a big cycling race/vacation) but want the European Delivery to be as late as possible in the season for the best possible weather since I'll be doing some cycling during the ED as well.
I live in MD, so I estimated ED drop-off to redelivery to be about 8 weeks, so late March/early April should be my target for the ED.

So two questions:
1) Does that timeline sound about right?
2) If so, when should start contacting dealers to negotiate the best deal & ensure my preferred delivery schedule?

For those curious, here's my build:
M3
YAS
Cloth
6-speed
HK
USB
Moonroof (unless they provide a way to mount a roof rack on the CF roof)

Also, I'd be open to PCD as well if an out-of-state dealer can give me a good enough deal. I've done it once before but wouldn't mind going again

1) 8 weeks for redelivery is very 'worst-case' -- My 2013 only took about 5 weeks to return to the dealer. But maybe better safe than sorry if you're on a tight schedule.

2) IIRC ED requires approximately a 12-week lead time from SOP to pickup. Probably want to get with the dealer 14 weeks or so before your preferred ED pickup date and get the ball rolling.

The E92 CF roof has roof-rack mounts, I assume the F8x will too.

Current F8X CF roofs have NO roof rack capability.

Awesome. I hated those little tabs on my e9x.

I'd be interested in hearing about the OP's suggested time line too. My lease is up in June and I was considering doing ED in early April.

When should the order be placed? I am assuming late January/Early February.

Keep in mind that you do not want to take delivery before April 15th as the snow tire rule is in effect making driving not so exciting. It's also when the weather darts to get decent enough where hopefully snow will not kill plans. Always have a plan b for a route / hotel to get around weather road closures

Thanks all! This may sound like blasphemy to most here, but I'm more excited about cycling in Germany than driving there - I see the ED as a subsidized cycling trip more than an opportunity to drive. Don't get me wrong, I'm passionate about getting the most out of my driving experience and will always own something satisfying to drive, but at the end of the day driving is simply a means of transportation. Cycling is what do for fun (I'd cycle Stelvia before drive it, but if there's time I'd do both - like my recent trip to Pikes Peak )
