FYI - MAJOR Delay in CFRP Roof Prod...

To update everyone on the delays expressed by some others on here, I can confirm that ALL M3/M4 orders with CF roof and not already in production will be pushed into January 2015 at the absolute earliest.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news...but I read the bulletin today and thought some of you with outstanding orders would like to know.

Could you post a picture of the bulletin please for us to read? This is not to be meant as I don't believe you. But if you're going to bear bad news, might as well go all the way

Not a bad reason to get a sunroof, you'll go to the top of the list. I miss having one honestly.

How does this work for people that already have confirmed ED dates but that haven't entered production?

This just sucks. I hope this isn't accurate. One would think that they would have had supply issues planned out far in advance for these cars, especially since cf roof was already known to have the higher demand.

Makes me glad I decided to move up my ED to November.

If you haven't already, you should set up a MyBMW account at bmwusa.com. If you have a confirmed ED date, you probably also have a production number. Input it to track your vehicle. If it gets to "in production", you're golden.

I'm sure this doesn't apply to ALL M3/M4 orders, as ED orders are somewhat sacred and get priority 0 status.

Guys, I'm not going to post the bulletin bc technically that's not supposed to happen, and being that work for BMW I'm not down to get in trouble.

Bottom line, carbon roof is not avail until January prod...

So you'll come say it and not worry but providing actual proof of the claim is over the line? Interesting.

Exactly. Shouldn't be too hard to do.

There is no way in my opinion BMW could be this bad in forecasting for carbon fiber roof production. My CA earlier this week told me my car should start production in about 7-10 days, but who knows when it will actually start.

I would assume dealers would have this info, and to date they don't.

I'm not buying it, sorry

Yeah my CA is adamant that he has not seen anything like this and my car is on schedule for week 39. His data pulls still show me with a confirmed prod week of week 39. I guess we will see.

So glad mine finished production before they started getting backup up! 10 more days until it's in my driveway! Surprised they're falling behind though, I would have guessed they would have had plenty of CFRP roofs ready.

Even if there is a delay a 3+ month delay seems insane.

You being the bearer of such bad news comes with responsibility. If you are not going to provide a SS/pic of the notice than you need to further validate this rumor for people and provide more detail if you work for BMW. Help out the community and put yourself in others shoes.

At what status are orders impacted?
Is this for any new orders after a certain date?
Is this for pending orders without a scheduled production date (111)?
