M235i

Just saw my first M235i in person. It looks much better in person than in pictures and I was surprised that it did not look that much different from my 135i from the sides. I liked it from the front but did not care for it from the back. I also did not care for the gray mirrors and wheels. The owner just purchased it coming from a Porsche Boxster, said it was his first BMW and he loved it. I found this ironic since if I do buy a new car it would be a Porsche Cayman. He tried to get a low mileage 135i but could not find one. It was a factory order since the local dealer is not stocking 2 series.

Totally agree. Looks good in person. The side view is nice (similar to 1er without the droop and a slightly lower shoulder), rear is bland, front is gorgeous (way nicer than the 135, IMHO). Don't like the stock wheels (the 228 sport version's wheels are much better looking) and the ass-high stance makes the rear wheels seem too small (can be fixed by lowered springs - I would go with Dinan spring set if I got one, which should also fix the excessive body roll).

Looks kind of generic. Like every other BMW (unlike the 1-series).

I like the hood and rounded front, but not the under-bumper openings (kinda busy). Rear is a sleeper.

Also the dash looks like a Hyunai.

I still have yet to see a 2-series anywhere, even at the dealership while my car was in the other day!

Same here. I did see the 228i in person and wasn't impressed with what I saw.

I mean I really do love the 135, especially in Mspt trim, and I think it is indeed a good-looking car, but you can't honestly say that the M235's front end (only talking about the front end) is pedestrian, Camry-ish, or not better-looking than the 135.
Is it subjective? Yes, but there are universal truths to subjectivity, like Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA is a better beer than Bud Light in every way, objectively or subjectively. Sometimes the laws of the universe are THAT immutable.

It's basically a honda accord coupe.

the front end of the 2 series is terrible....a sloppy mess. Probably the worst part about the otherwise poor design, IMO. It looks like a Chinese car company tried to mimic the F30 3 series and failed...

There are other 'modern' BMWs I love....like the 6 series or 5-series (which is very 1er like IMO)

The front end looks like the new corporate BMW, but elongated and exaggerated, like you're looking at it through a fun house mirror. BMW definitely tried too hard in the front. The rest of the car looks like generic japanese to me. From the sides and back it could be the next Toyota, Honda or Hyundai.

All it needs is one of those coffee can mufflers, boy racer spoiler, some look-at-me chrome wheels, drop it to the ground and you're good to go.

I loved the 2-series on paper/screen, car looked absolutely beautiful in those leaked photos of the red m235i on the dock. In person though I was pretty disappointed. Front looked awkward (yes coming from a 1-series owner) and the rear looked unfinished and totally bland. Headlights look beautiful and the side profile is sharp but aside from that not much else going on for it.

The only things I do care for are the the adaptive suspension and factory LSD option, too bad the 1-er was never offered with those. If I ever get paaaaiddd I would totally buy the m235i racecar for track days and club racing (and a X5 diesel to trailer it to/from lol).

Might be, but the new 2015 Honda Accord Coupe with the V6 engine (more comparable dont you think?) is 3400-3536 lbs depending on how it's speccd. WTF. That's a FWD car with no prop shaft.
