Power rear sunshade

I tried to remove this item off my build as i was worried it may rattle in the future or get torn up with tint. My CA told me that if i remove this it wouldnt let him keep my extended SO interior. Has anyone heard anything like this?

Went through the same thing with my CA. He said he had to make some calls "pretty high up". The thing is, bmwusa.com let's you configure the car without it, so it should be done. I was persistent, kept telling him it was not acceptable. I also had those lame side shades removed as well, seemed like a waste knowing I would be tinting the windows when the car is redelivered.

I brought this up to my CA and he said it has to do with Sakhir Orange interior. I asked him to double check because i really didnt want the sunshade. Answer below..

"Nope we called them today we don't use bmws website to build and order it's direct through bmw and says you must have it to get certain colors..."

Does the Sakhir Orange interior have some magnetic property that draws the rear sunshade into the parts bin and force the installation despite the properties of all the other interior colors?

Show your CA this, maybe it will help. If not, tell him to keep trying.

Probably going too far off topic but I'll mention it here as another "phantom addition": I opted for all of the packages and my car was almost ordered with a moon roof. I in no way wanted a moon roof and the config I sent my CA said as much, but I think their build config software is gummy and is adding stuff left and right along with packages. It was also weird because the moonroof was also "n/c" so it would've been free or something?

Anyway check those orders VERY closely. If I didn't go over it with a fine tooth comb I seriously would've never noticed.

Yeah I think I am good except for the sunshade. I still am getting the same feedback tho about removing it. Should I call BMW NA and ask or?

Yes, the moonroof is a no cost option on the F8x as the standard roof is the rare and expensive contoured carbon fiber reinforced plastic roof. The moonroof option is only ticked by those who really desire it (where the n/c is a boon for them) as it adds c.50lbs of weight to the highest point of the car and changes the look.

dmk- my order is full leather and the rear shade was not auto-added. At a reduced $350 I decided to add it but concerned about rattles and the fact I'm tinting, both like you, I removed it. It is INSANE a $575 "option" you don't want is being added, fight on!

I have an F80 on order and I want a sunshade. I would love to not have to pay for it. Maybe I should remove it from my build and it'll come with it anyway?

Im pretty much being told that they can remove it but it would likely delay my order. Im not willing to risk it so i guess im getting sunshades. Maybe it will be a good option for resale.

i dont think the sunshade will hurt resale.. depending on the state the next buyer might want them if tint is not legal.

It can be removed. My order was doing same thing. But dealer was able to get it removed after I told them I was not going to pay for it. If it stayed on build it would be at their cost. A couple of days later I gotta a call that it was removed.

Not true. Unless the car is already in production then yes it will delay your order. I have already contacted BMWNA and filed a complaint about their website. My Car had the rear power sunshade and extended leather. I was extremely persistent about it and they finally removed it right before the car went into production. I would contact your dealer.

Yeah i dont know what to do at this point. Ive pushed to have it removed but they are standing by what they said. Is the next step to tell them i would refuse the car or to pay for it if it comes with the option?

you could threaten that and see if the dealer bites and maybe just knocks some $ off. i think some people just said the hell with the fight because they didnt want to delay. I think it all depends on if you are willing to cause a delay.

Yeah he just told me he was going to forward me the notification from BMW that it would delay my order if I changed it. I will eat the cost rather than wait longer.

Yeah I live in Hotlanta. I'm sure it will help during resale. You can only do 30% tint here so it could still be useful for back seat babies and such.

He sent me over the notification. I will end my war lol.
