Dumb question on BMW Online - need input
My M4 is a little over 2 weeks old. I've been using BMW Online internet where I can get news, weather etc. This morning it shut off stating 'No connection' when I try to get the news. I took the car to my dealership and it took 4 BMW geniuses to finally give me an answer - which took 1.5 hours. They said I need the concierge package. We even called BMW assist and the guy on the other end said it was a free trial that can last days or weeks before shutting off.
Is this true? Does anyone here have free online service (w/o the concierge package)? And if so, how long does it last? thanks in advance, puzzled in San Diego |

Most mechanics and or SA may not understand servers, downtime, tech updates and how to manage the inevitable exceptions. It will be interesting to see how the i's will be managed through the lifecycle Tesla seems to have a grip on it. |

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and am actually a Certified BMW Genius and saw you guys were wondering what kind of training we get. First for me I already a lot of first hand experience working at a Dealership in other positions until i was eventually put into the "Genius" roll. Other then a lot of experience driving each model and using all the technology. Each dealership has to send their geniuses to training either at the BMW NA headquarters in woodcliff lake NJ or the M performance center in Spartanburg SC. In order to be a Certified Genius you have to complete a one week course which teaches you everything that makes a BMW a BMW. We learn history of the company, how BMWs have evolved over the years, all technical aspects of a BMW that makes it superior to any other cars in its class. Options and packages, the all the different lines (m sport line, luxury line) all the Idrive and BMW app technology. It's four days of class room work getting to know everything about the product. And there one day that we drive. I drove the new m3, last years x6m, active 5 series hybrid, 435i gran coupe, 640i and a 760Li... Yeah 60... Twinturbo 6 liter V12. I learned a lot working for a BMW dealership then becoming a certified genius. I will say, and I don't want to come off the wrong way. But i know more then your average person about BMWs, it's my job.
