T-minus - 16 hours and counting
There is no point to this thread other than to exclaim my ridiculous anxiety, anticipation, and joy over my pending f80 m3 delivery tomorrow.
I'm excited to finally see Carbonstructure in person. I'm excited to see the 18s in person. I'm excited to feel the clutch-up. I'm excited to drive the freaking car with a clutch/stick! I'm excited to learn the nuances of the exhaust system and car sounds. I'm excited to find a place to weigh the car since my only option is the adaptive suspension. I'm excited to take my two year old son out in it on some back roads and do "whoop di dos" I'm not excited that my wife is 8+ months pregnant and probably can't enjoy driving stick, cozy seating, and intense thrust/g forces. I'm excited to set my M buttons  I'm excited to have my first new car since 2006, and for all the technology that comes with it as standard. I'm excited to feel those RIDICULOUS stock brakes again. I'm excited to feel the dual plate clutch in action. I'm excited to get back into a vehicle that drives small, tight, connected, energetic. I'm hopeful to develop a new partner in crime. A good friend. A comforting presence... ... Ok, I think I've enthused enough. Thanks for listening to me drool onto the web.

AW/Carbonstructure 6MT 2015 M3 picked up 8/22/2014. Stripper except for adaptive suspension. Weighed at 3,450 pounds with 1/4 fuel. 70,000 miles as of February 2020.

Having just picked up my M4 today, I understand all those feelings (except the pregnant wife) and I can tell you that I was not disappointed. In fact, it surpassed my expectations and I didn't want to get out of the cockpit

Dude you're going to love the car! I've had mine 3 days but was only able to drive it yesterday because of rain.
Heads up, the clutch and brakes will be a little grabby at first being brand new. I think there's about 80 miles on mine now and they are already getting way better. The 6mt transmission so far is a lot better than I had expected. Very direct with a nice kind of notchy feel to the shifter. No slop. You can feel slight driveline vibrations through the shifter almost as if its on solid mounts like a race car. It can be very smooth to, especially with rev match on and in comfort settings. I am typing this while sitting in my M4 in the garage. Have a great day tomorrow! |

I can't wait for your next post - post delivery - with pics. My wife is also 8 months pregnant with twins, and we've decided to do ED next year. I totally hear you about the pregnant wife's lack of tolerance to the way I normally drive. I might as well be driving a Buick right now. At least she wouldn't have to suffer with my sport suspension.
