Carbon Roof Making Noise/Creaking(Rattling)
Hey guys, looked around a little bit and couldn't find anything on these cars having issues with the carbon roofs yet. Car has ~1900 miles, and over the past week I have noticed my carbon roof starting to creak/rattle. And it has been getting progressively worse. At low speeds its very noticeable due to quieter road noise. So, is this common or expected with a carbon roof? Any info would be great.

What do you mean the roof is making noise? Do you mean where the roof meets the doors? If so, that's door seal noise and can be mitigated by greasing the door seals or opening/closing them a bunch.
There's no parts on the roof to creak/rattle, so I'm trying to understand. Is it coming from where the pillars meet the roof, the map lights? etc.

Well fellas, tonight by chance I figured out my little problem with the creaky roof. Turns out is was the door seals (inner and outer). They were dry and sticky, and all I had to do was condition them with some Adams Super VRT. Good as new and no more noise! So happy I got this resolved!

Creaking M3 roof?
Hey guys I have a new F80 M3 with carbon fiber roof. Every time I hit a bump the roof "creaks" and it's super annoying to listen to. Anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix?
Cheers!

It's most likely the seal around the windows. If you take it to the dealer they will lubricate it and it will go away.
This car has a stiff chassis so be prepared to hear more noises along the way.

I read about this earlier this year. I think people were solving it by opening the doors and shutting them again if that didn't work have the rubber molding lubricated. I believe the rubber door seals were the culprit.

For the door rubber get some Gummi Pflege (rubber care)
Dealers used to sell it, now easily available from Amazon. You just apply it straight to the rubber with teh bottle applicator. A little goes a very long way. Also dont forget to wax the door jams when you wax the car. Helps prevent many of these noises.

I had the same issue when I first got my car and the dealer fixed it using the teflon tape and no more rattles at least from that area. |

I used the Gummi Pflege and the sounds came back pretty quickly. Recently mine has worsened to the point where they will creak going down the road wheras before it was usually in parking lots turning or going over speed bumps or whatnot.
