M3/M4 purchase in Northern California?
Hi everyone, My 1st post here!
I am ready to get my next car. I am looking at M3 or the M4...I was wondering what is the best place in Northern California to purchase a new bimmer? There are a number of dealers close to where I live (San Francisco) but most have ridiculously poor reviews on yelp. The last thing I want is poor dealer service which I have experienced in the past (different brand). Any help would be appreciated Thanks |

Your other option is to buy from an out-city or out-state dealer. Many people have done this with great success, and you will get a lower price ... my experience, however, was horrific. That said, I would do it again with a different dealer but I'm willing to pay more for local. |

I've heard good things about Mountain View's and I will be checking them out soon. I bought my 328i from Stevens Creek and thought the service was alright. Was thoroughly impressed with Easy Bay Pleasanton's service when I went there to inquire more about the M4.
If you're interested in test driving the car, Fremont BMW has an M3 available. It's got over 900 miles on it currently. If price matters, I doubt any of the dealers are willing to go below MSRP. And it seems to me their October allocations are getting filled up. |

Thanks everyone I will check both Fremont and MV. When I look on yelp there are so many unhappy customers for both of these places which makes me worried.
BTW, do you pay CA tax or origin tax if you buy from out of state? |

This. Fremont was great. They have a BMW genius there that will encourage you to put your car through the paces, and they were offering at MSRP. I feel bad that I didn't buy from there, because I had such a great experience with the service, but they had no allocations.
I ordered outside the bay area and got invoice+. I'd recommend not buying into the idiotic economics of this area. Too many financially stupid people with too much money.

PM me if you are interested in East Bay, I can put you in touch with the right folks, the GM, Service and Sales Manager all know me and you will get excellent service. It will be MSRP though. If you have the $1K from the drive event, can use that! |

I bought my M4 from BMW Mountain View and traded my M3 in to Sonnen BMW in Marin.
Based on the two experiences, I will most likely use Sonnen for my next purchase. Also, I will *never* use BMW San Francisco again after they reneged on the sale of my M3 the day I went to hand them the pink slip. |

Got my m4 at hansel BMW in Santa Rosa. Service was excellent at the time. I'll have to see how well they do on my 1200 mi break in service. So far, happy with them..

hi everyone,
I contacted BMW SF and test drove a car, not the m4 but 435, it just assured me that I need an m4 as that car was really numb and boring. I have spec'ed it out the way I want it. now shopping for anyone who will give me a better price. Do you guys just contact all the dealers and negotiate? Also how much more than invoice do they typically charge? is there room to get a deal also has anyone tried BMW select for a m3. (kind of like ~45% of the car upfront cash and 55% of it financed) what's the best option? Thanks again |

None of the dealers in the bay area are going to give a good deal if any deal at all. several like BMW SF have ridiculous markups (up to 20k). Most have sold out allocations requiring you to wait a bit for now. You'd likely be able to get deals out of state but then you'd have to deal with the hassle of transporting the car (courtesy transports from another dealer are a gray area as a lot of california dealers refuse to do so despite protests). If purchasing, you're better off going with a local credit union if you qualify (like Alliant or Stanford credit union (1.49% financing for 36 months or 1.99 for greater than 36 months) and choose to finance the car. BMW Select has terrible financing rates at 3.xx%.

I have contacted all the places recommended, including Fremont, they didn't even respond to my email. looks like finding this car is harder than I thought
if you buy out of state which places are more likely to have it? |

I acquired my M4 via a broker in San Jose. It took 5 days to get the car from his dealer. Got it yesterday.
I've had various good to poor experiences at some of the dealers mentioned in past dealings... good @ Mt View, Stevens Creek = Horrible, Fremont = bad. YMMV of Course. If you want a referral to my broker PM me. |
