I don't think it covers curb rash... i think it just for losing a tire or breaking a wheel due to road debris, whatever that means.

read the fine print. insurance does not cover "cosmetic damage" there has to be an issue caused by the wheel and/or tire to have them replaced. I bought this insurance as well on that thought but once I got home and read it says that.

so cracked wheels, bent wheels, flat tires, etc etc

I have this insurance. Hit a pot hole in Austin, TX and bent a rear rim. I wanted the insurance to cover repairing the rim (about $150), but they replaced the rim instead ($700). Good insurance.

I was quoted $1800, then when I refused it, the price magically went down to $1300. I still refused it. My last M3, I spent $20 on a patch once. That was the only problem I had (besides curbing the rims twice... which is not covered). Knocking on wood.

My mistake, my dealer offers coverage for wheels tires etc, this includes cosmetic damage.

if it covers cosmetic...that would be good; that seems more likely to happen if being super cautious, which i like to think i am, but you never know. sXXX happens. I need to look further at the detail - he just gave me a brochure that was pretty general.

The prices they quote are such bogus.

Just looked it up...it's the one offered via BMW (on their website) and does not cover anything cosmetic. I hope i don't get curb rash like i get can rash.

I need to get my dude to drop it down in price. Jokesters.

I never get why people pay for this insurance. In the past I've never had a tire issue that couldn't simply be patched FOR FREE by Discount Tire, and I've never had wheel damage from any of those flats I had repaired. Maybe I'm just lucky? I do see tons of people on these forums saying it's worth it, but I just don't see how.

Not saying people shouldn't do as every circumstance/history is different...I just don't personally see how it's worth it to me.

Just depends on individual experience.

I happened to have it for my e92 M3 and had 3 tires replaced no charge. It more than paid for itself. Now, if I had not had any tires damaged by a nail/screw, and was not able to take advantage of the protection, then I would probably be on your side of the fence...and be questioning it's usefulness.

I've been driving for more years than I care to admit and have only had one tire failure (and it was a track issue and installed improperly) and no rim issues. I am wiling to self-insure the risk of a tire/rim issue and forgo the insurance.

I did get it on my wife's X3, because it was my first experience with run flats and the dealer put the press on me (I caved in a moment of weakness thinking about my wife hitting potholes). No claims in the 3 years, so on firmed to me I'm better off self insuring.

Most places refuse to patch run flat tires. Pot holes, nails etc insurance covers it all.

They aren't. No "real" M has ever worn run flats.
