I saw an M4 today... And I have decided to order :)

A few weeks ago, I saw a black M3, and I wasn't very impressed. It looked good, but it was completely unexciting. Today, I went back to the dealership and they said there was an M4 MG that was sold, but that they could show it to me. And the moment I saw it, I was stunned. It's classy, subtle, very muscular... Absolutely amazing. I was even considering taking a look at M6s, although I wasn't sure about spending that much money. But, the moment I saw the M4, I was sold on the M4. Consequently, I think I'm ordering one next week.

My combo:

Mineral Gray
Sakhir Orange
19" black
Executive pack
Driver Assistance Plus
Lighting pack
Moonroof
M Adaptive suspension
Bluetooth plus & smartphone integration
HK Sound

Based on pics I found the M4 underwhelming and even when I saw it at the autoshow I was like "ehh". This car is so not photogenic from so many angles. but I saw it for the first time live a few days ago on the lot of a dealer and I was totally blown away. Car looked freakin awesome. I just got my fiance a 4 Series convertible w the M appearance package and maybe that is why I was struck by how much more muscular the car is from seeing her white 4 series in the driveway. I have decided against getting a 911 and will order my M4 in January just in time for spring. My 911 is great (the new 991 EVEN better) but honestly it isn't $40k better than the M4....

I know.. But I currently have the cf roof on my E92, and I feel like I never took advantage of it. I don't think I can really feel the difference, I'm not that awesome of a driver. Also, the CF roof is completely invisible with MG.

Why do people in here always need to attack others personal choices? I can't stand black wheels (looks like someone "stole the hubcaps"), but that is an individual choice. Instead of making the OP feel welcome and feel good about his choice to get an M4, people attack his choices!!

I totally agree with you. I took a few pictures of the M4 that I saw today (below) and they don't really capture the real thing for some reason. I mean, I'm looking at my phone's screen, then at the actual car, and I'm thinking "What is wrong with my pics". It's like the time I was taking pictures at Grand Canyon... As you said, the difference is that M4 looks way more muscular and sporty than it does in pics. Even if you enter a room full of 435i M Packs and just 1 M4, you would notice the M4 in a second, and you would know that it's a very different beast.

I'm almost sure about the combo, but my only concern is that, for example today in Boston, there is heavy rain and it's 65F in the middle of summer. In such a day, when I see my blue car it makes me happy. Mineral gray wouldn't feel like that, it wouldn't excite you in a boring day. But I love SO interior very much, and it doesn't go well with any of the exciting colors. So yes, I'm still not 100% sure. There is also a possibility that I'll go with CF roof. I would like to have the moonroof, but it's not very big, and it feels like it's a bit too behind. The driver (me) wouldn't really enjoy it very much.

That first pic of the mg is the best I've ever seen. All the other pics I've seen come out as unimpressive but that one... Wow

I fixed my post. It was not an attack, c'mon look at my signature, I'm driving an X5 M for crying out loud, so I'm not in a position to say s... to an M3 owner.

My comment was not a direct attack at you. It was just your comment and a response to your coment that set me off. It is just a theme that runs rampant throughout the forum and it seems so unnecessary.

Sorry that you felt attacked and there is nothing wrong with an X5M.

There is a post here of a guy who just got a Silver Stone SO interior and holy crap it looks great. I had a silver stone E92 and my only complaint was on cloudy days it looks really dull (I had numerous people say it was sea foam green!). I might go back based on his pics!

No need to apologize, I didn't take it as an attack, as I did see your point of view. Sometimes humor is lost without the use of smilies.

I took the X5M to VIR, and after a few laps, I found all of the flaws of a heavy SUV. It's fast and comfy, but I want back in an M3 so badly, I can taste it.

the m4 and m3 for that matter in person look larger than life. its same effect the current 981 boxster and cayman have when you see them. just an aura about them that is not captured in film.

congrats on the choice! i for one would not get the moonroof simply because the countured carbon fiber roof is so damn sexy!

how often you use a moonroof anyways in boston? summer too damn hot and swampy without ac running. winter way to freakin cold. spring and fall are one week each there.
