High revving V8 is still alive, GT350
I was talking to friend of mine whos father is one of the head people at ford 2015 mustang development. Said The GT350 is coming with a high revving N/A v8 motor. Also made a point it could rev higher than my S65. There are only so many people who understand the beauty of engines like the S65. Was shocked to see a ford guy that loves my engine.
I am not a big mustang guy. Although i think its pretty dam cool if this thing gets made. Its worth checking out for me. we have Europe making 3.0L I6 twin turbo engines, then ford is trying to make a 8K+ RPM 500HP+ motor. Certainly this car sounds much more appealing to me on paper than the f8x M3/4.

I would love to see this. There may be some high revving challengers coming out of Japan as well; or at least NA like with the RCF. They don't seem to have jumped aboard the all turbo train and I'm sure emissions are an important factor for them too.
What I will say is this, one of the worst things that could have happened to E9x values would be if bmw introduced a better NA V8 for the F8x. So I consider the turbos a blessing in that regard! Of course, if that were to happen, I likely wouldn't have purposely bought a 2013. |

I'm also curious about the RCF MSRP and additional needed info. Hopefully Lexus gives an update soon.
Hi-Revving V8 mustang? You drive an M3, do you really want to get into a Mustang?

I'm at a point were I can justify a new/used M; however, not too excited about the new M3/4. So, I am passively looking for clean low mileage 2011 - 13 e92.
However, I am holding off to see what a GT or more important, a new 350 has to offer. With a new chassis, upgraded materials, Recaro seats, Brembro brakes, flat-plane crank 8K high revving 500hp+ American made V8, it is pretty tempting. I can give up a bit of the luxury and prestige if it compensates with performance/excitement. With the positive comparisons of the S197 against the e92, there is no reason to think that the S550 went backwards (at this point). |

Looks like certain Mustang models are stepping up their game. I give everything a fair shake. For now, I really like the looks, and the specs on paper seem very appealing. I have always liked the interior layout of the Mustang also. Very clean design. Will have to see how the materials, fit and finish are, however. Still for under $60k fully loaded, I would have funds left to build a full custom interior that would rival an Aston Martin.

Flat plane crank? 8,000 rpm? 550 bhp??? pinch me, I can't believe this! Ford is out-Ferrari'ing Ferrari!!! I would seriously consider this as a dedicated tracker. thank god some companies have having the cojones to go against the grain..

i think ford has been listening to what people want, and they are definitely kicking ass in the muscle car world. i drove a mustang gt and a camaro ss in the same week a little over a year ago, and the mustang was worlds above the camaro. i haven't driven a challenger yet, but just looking at the interior and pizza cutter wheels, the car looks to be emotionless and a disappointment.
i think ford quit competing with dodge and chevy, and set their sights to the benchmark (M performance) and left their typical competitors in the dust.

I was checking this out after I read this post. Sounds like thunder rolling down the street. An 8k+ V8 pushing 550...this can't be waste. They must be targeting this for the track. The competition is alive and well.

I've always had a special place in my heart for high revving engines not just V8's. Think integra type R, S2000, E46 M3, RX8, Civic SI and off course E92 M3.

I am having a hard enough time adapting to the concept of Cadillac no longer being a car for the 70+ crowd. Lincoln still just seems old. Every time I hear the name, the picture of a dying Abraham Lincoln comes to my mind.
