As I find virtually no difference between Comfort and Sport mode in my xdrive with adaptive, so I drive in Sport mode ALL of the time now. Its not harsh at all in Sport mode IMO probably due to the softer springs. May as well try to get the best handling I can from it.

It seems to me that there is quite a difference with the way adaptive behaves in xdrive vs sdrive, from what people are saying.

I think what xDrive owners are missing is the flatter cornering behaviour that an sDrive has.

I rather like the xDrive's way of doing things as I also do the sDrive's. They are different. I'd be happy with either.

I agree and I would bet a set of sdrive M Sport springs would help the 335d quite a bit. But lets not forget the 335d will always weigh 90kg more than a 330d sdrive ........ so will never handle like one .......

But it will also always have better traction. Anyway, the extra power and torque more than makes up for the extra weight. It is a very fast car suitable for all weather use. A win-win situation.

I am sure once you drop the old girl's skirts by 10mm. she will be quite handler and give you more than enough pleasure.

I reckon xDrive would be right up your street, soft, squidgy, offers a bit more weight when being hit by a campervan, and plenty of grip in those London blizzards

I've not read the whole thread but from my few days with my 330d MSport (especially today on some challenging roads between macc and Buxton) the adaptive is unbelievable! You will read it's like two different cars and that is true, but it's also two great cars, a fab cruiser which doesn't wallow but soaks up the bumps but in sport it's taught but with none of that old MSport jaw rattle, it's a must!!

Thanks everyone. Really helpful insights. It is great to hear the pros and cons. The thing that might be the overriding factor for me is that the smoothest ride I've ever experienced in an F30 or 31 was with adaptive in Comfort, and I know I can tighten it up in Sport. It'll work out about a few extra quid on the monthlies (10 ish?).

Some posts have mentioned potential reliability problems. There's more to go wrong I guess. Has anyone actually had a problem or know some who has?
