Just installed SSTT. My impressions.
installation - Piece of cake. I was having a bit of a problem in the beginning. I was attempting to jam my arm in on an angle, in order to reach the sensor. After several scratches and scrapes, I stopped and thought about it, I realized it was much easier to insert my hand from above and there was a lot more room to work with.
Took about 5 minutes with a dime so find and lift the clip. Snapped the SSTT in and mission accomplished. One question: Is it possible to install the SSTT wrong? or can the connectors only go one way? If it's not done properly, should I expect a CEL? Test drive - Running on 94 Octane 10% ethanol, I must say, it didn't feel like night and day. I was hoping to break traction in second, but I couldn't. I'm a tad bit dissapointed, but I hope my ECU still has adapting to do. I only went on a very short drive, maybe 5 or 10 miles. The exhaust is definitely throatier then before and I really like it. You can also hear your turbos whistling a lot more. I like that too!!! I'm really hoping that my ECU adapts more and I break traction in second. |

Did you turn off DTC? (one brief push of the button)

One push of the button disables DTC. Holding it down for like 5 seconds will disable DTC and DCS I believe. No need to do that to break traction, just push the button once. You should break be able to break traction easily in 2nd gear.
You did let the ECU go into sleep mode before installing the SSTT, right?

As a past SSTT owner I can say that it'll take you a good few WOT's to get it fully adapted. You should also get a feel of improved throttle response.

Give it more start/stop cycles to adapt, and ditto on the WOT runs.
No need to push the button unless you like changing lanes sideways. I have 9 1/2" wide 19's in back and without touching the button the back end still goes every which way at the top of 2nd. Thats with DPs and upgraded intercooler however.

Two to three days after install, your butt will adapt to the new power, and you may think it's not quite as punchy like after the install. At least the case with me and a few members here...but trust me, it's all there bro. Enjoy

I would suggest giving it a few days to adapt if it doesn't seem any better I would suggest disconnecting the battery. I had mine in for about 3-4 days (and it did seem to be much stronger) and then I completely unplugged my battery. I really think that did the trick cause after a day of adaption the car felt much better than when I first installed the SSTT.

Out of topic, but did you wake your baby out of the wintry sleep just for a test drive? Couldn't hold it any longer? Same here.

Thanks for all the feedback BTW. I'll keep you posted over the next few days. Does anyone else notice the throatier exhaust and whistling turbos?

Man, same picture here. Can't wait for spring to come in, so I can take it out and install a few of my new mods. |
