Glad they are just replacing it.... doesn't seem to be a common issue so good mojo headed your way that the car will treat you right now.

I guess you aren't onboard with going for it once the oil temp needle moves off the 160F marking (as per that user manual suggestion that "Normal operating temperature: the pointer is in the middle or in the left half of the temperature display")

Glad to hear you are getting a new gearbox. congrats on that!

Nope fully warmed up at normal temps before full load! The M4 warms up pretty quick in my normal driving even during the winter so no need to thrash it when its cold.

The Transmission is in the country so with a bit of good fortune I should my car back later in the week.I am more excited about this coming for myself though!.The plan at this point is to keep the M4 as a daily driver and spare track car.

BMW reliability at its best. I hope this turns out well for you. Does this impact resale value potentially - hoping it does not?

It could have an effect on resale but in my case with 40000+ kms per year at this moment probably less than other people that drive only 15000 kms years.I will declare the history when I sell this car just like every other car that I have tracked and sold.

That's the engine BMW should have put in the F8X

All the excuses that we get from the Germans that we cannot have high powered normally aspirated engines anymore and the Americans continue to introduce great new engines! You are 100% correct this is the engine that the S65 should have evolved into!

Picked up the car this am.No real explanation on the problem except that BMW authorized a new transmission be installed after extensive inspection & testing at the dealer.Everything seems fine with the new one but I will take it easy on it for the 1st few hundred kms to break it in.

Parkview BMW who were great!Constant updates by email and somehow they got the transmission 10 days sooner than they thought it would be.The 1st question from the service manager was if I needed it for a track day . I was at the track but helping out a friend who was racing a TA2 Camaro.

Wow they replaced a transmission for yiu and my dealer can't fix few stupid rattles... I baby my car so far, but curious about your comment abiout driving in manual mode in traffic so the computer doesn't slip the clutch? Can you please explain further? And happy that your car is ok! Looks very nice BTW.

In the auto mode I find that when do not come to a complete it will stay in 2nd and slip the clutch when you try to accelerate. If I am in typical Toronto 401 type traffic I manually select 1st gear to prevent this.Even though it has wet clutches it cannot be a good thing to be happening in the long term.

Isn't that the equivalent of moving a manual car in 2nd gear? I never thought it was bad but good to know. I've been resisting to driving the M4 in manual bcoz I think I am gonna exceed speed limit easily instead I pretend it's an auto w a torque converter and drive it in D
