Tell me your modification plans for your car.
I cant stand the wait for the new car and I have allready started to make "changes" to the car....
What i want to do is. 1. starspoke 230 for summer tires and the 296 wheels for winter. 2. sports exhoust 3. the antrasitt woodtrim I want to paint in black sapphire. 4. the roll over bar would be nice in dim black. 5. shorter antenna. 6. short shifter. probably more to come. are you guys going to keep the car originale? I have to in the begining becauce the car is going to stand in front of our dealership(test drive, yeah right!!), but I have to make it a littel personal.

I dont like wood, but on the othe sider it looks really good to be wood. I am not goring to replace it buy alu because many cars have alu now. The white seats are probably gooing good with the wood but i dont want a mahogany table inside the car. A littel joke but I havent seen and i am a littel skeptic! I have many plans but time will showe!!! I want the car tomorrow.

Here's my suggestion.
1. Replace the hideous looking side markers with something else. 2. Paint the silver trims in front bumper black. 3. GP Thunder 8500 4. Wheels 5. JB+ 6. Tint the rear glass |

I will have the following done:
1. Shorter antenna (already ordered) 2. Roll bars painted in car color (orion silver - the normal silver looks uuugly combined with orion silver) My dealer will do this for free. Apart from that nothing planned. Argh.. Can I send you my ash wood in exchange and you paint that? I would love to have the anthrazit wood with black leather... What exactly do you have in mind? Did you order an automatic? (I would be very much interested in exchanging the shifter on my 23i automatic) |

In the German forum somebody claims that his dealer regularly gets calls from BMW informing him that no guarantee work is to be done for certain vehicles due to this. Just my two cents. |

An another audio head unit, much better speakers and subwoofer.
The 1 and 3 series car radio unit is also used in the E89, so an front panel frame to build in a DIN car radio is already available. EdP |

Don't know if sending stuff back and forth would really be worth the effort, but if you seriously consider painting, please let me know. |

But then I am getting old What is the alternative? We have aluminium in our E91 (my wife is driving it) and we have a lot of dents in it (from her rings) since the material is too soft. I don't like the standard interior, so I had to choose wood. If I had chosen an E90 I would have gone for grey (black) wood (from BMW individual) but since there is so little choice for the E89... |

It's about 2/3 of the size of the original antenna (28 cm instead of 42cm) Not 3rd party. |

Thanks a lot but it is little bit weird since the long antenna does not look good and bmw has a shorter antenna why they do not use the shorter one for production? I mean i believe a lot of people will get rid of that long antenna and order shorter one but BMW is a big company do they think to make extra money from shorter antennas

There is a lot of discussion going on about this. People assume the following reasons: The standard radio does NOT have diversity and therefore relies on a single antenna which has to be longer in order to have good reception under all circumstances (even in rural areas). People living in the city may have good reception even without an antenna. People ordering a better radio (or navigation system) can end up with multiple antennas for radio diversity (though nobody really knows where the second antenna could be). People ordering HiFi package could have an amplifier included which boosts the signal. These are all remarks from the German forums (not my own thoughts). Fact is: Nobody knows for sure what the reason for the longer antenna is. |
