F82/S55 engine ticking

Looking for help to diagnose a ticking/clipping noise in exeperiencing on the car. Usually happens after driving the car for a little bit and persists when the car is warmed up as well. The speed of the ticking/tapping increases as the RPMs go higher and can be mostly heard around to 1-2.5k RPMs. I’ve heard this could be exhaust camshaft that needs to be retorqued but looking for more confirmation. Thanks

Mine had a similar noise but not as pronounced.

While getting crank hub done I had exhaust cam alignment done and it’s sounds fine now(apart from belt chirping sound but that is almost gone now that I change belt tensioner)

That’s how I’m hoping I can do, I am thinking of getting CH done in the next 2 months where I can get that fixed at the same time. Hoping that’s the fix for this, cause I just got the car less than 2 months ago with only 24k miles.

The cool thing was it only cost me an extra £150 as I asked the tuber what would recommend to get done while he had the everyting open.

With hind sight I prob would have changed to new valve cover given I got the crank hub and tune done at 82k km

Just noticed this issue today. Not as bad as yours, but I also suspect not having the engine cover is what's causing me to notice it just now. I wonder if it's an urgent issue that needs to be addressed ASAP or not

People have told to me to hold off on driving it until I can get it fixed so I’m not going to do any driving until diagnosis/fix

This might be better video, definitely not normal and you can hear the ticking while driving at low RPMs.

I sent the video to one of my local mechanic they think it’s either cam slap or rod bearing slap. Will need to start a tear down to find the source. I have an appointment Monday to drop it off. I’m in complete disbelief this car is untuned with 26k miles with only 1 owner before and already having problems.

Yeah, to my ears the sound at pure idle doesn't sound very off to what seems like the normal S55 sound, but when you rev it, that "looser" rattle-like sound definitely seems abnormal. Good luck with the diagnosis/fix, keep us posted.

Mines been doing that for the last 40k km's, goes away after it warms up a little bit. Stage 2 and I drive the piss out of it. Like another user said you can get the exhaust camshaft bolts (something like that) replaced to get rid of the noise.
