Right Paddle Shift Issue

Hey guys, I bought a 2011 e92 DCT a couple months ago. The right paddle shifter works if I pull it on the very top corner, but if I try pulling anywhere else on the paddle there's no response.

One of its previous owners installed extended aluminum paddle shifters, so I figured a wire was pinched. I took the steering wheel apart last night and made sure everything was tight and lined up correctly, but that didn't solve the issue. I'm wondering if something could be wrong with the actual connector. Do I need to buy a whole new right paddle shift assembly? I figured it'd be worth my time asking the community prior to dropping about $350 for a new part. Any help would be much appreciated!

Check the contact patch on the top of the paddle.

It's gold in color and can get flattened when you install larger paddles.

It happened to me. Clean the contact patch and lift up the tab a little and see if it fixes the problem.

You can pull the paddle while the car is stationary before screwing it back in (to test) and 2nd gear will engage.
