What would you do?
My Neighbours Q5 was stolen from outside their house last night.
the twats broke in and nicked the keys. nothing else. no finger prints, no evidence to speak of.. so now i am paranoid about my house being broken into.. (could nt care about the car - despite the way we all love our cars they are just metal and plastic in reality) whats the best from of deterrent in this situation... Any ideas? starting to get a bit peeved about having such nice things now - especially as some idiot opened their car door into mine at a service station on saturday and dented the drivers door. what the FCUK is wrong with people! |

Have you got a burglar alarm for the house?

1 Get a decent alarm hooked up to the police
2 Get CCTV as a deterrent (some great gear at Maplin) 3 Get a big dog. I've gone for 1 & 2 after a couple of recent failed attempts. It's really unsettled me though. |

Ditto to alarm, some light time switches - random time ones.
Baseball bat. Do some basic security scans when coming home, check for people or cars looking out of place. Look for anyone checking out your car. If in doubt 101 it. |

If they want it, they'll get it one way or another.... Working on the premise of car being a heap of replaceable metal - leave they keys somewhere easy to find so if they do break in then they won't spend too long in your house!!! If someone breaks in purely for my car, I'd rather they just take the keys and get the fcuk out than ransack the whole place and come upstairs etc etc ....

I have a Caucasian shepherd dog.
The soviets used them to kill bears and guard prisoners in the Gulags. Boris weighs 155 lbs. I have never had a burglary. Come to think of it, I never get any post....... |

Best deterrent is to change your car for a BMW tourer........Oh.....you have!!!
Lol at the dog, I think it would terrify the owner more than any gang of hardened criminals. |

Hey buddy sorry to hear. Having had my old 59 plate stolen and attempt on my f30, I have to swallowed the fact that sooner or later it will happen again. Unfortunately it's just the world and society we live in. Saying that I have added extra security to front and back doors and side gate.
If they are pros and they really want it they will have it. I see plenty of high end cars in my neck of the woods with old school discloks on them now, but even then they can be off in seconds, if they are lowloadering away on a rainy night to muffle the sound as per my 59 plate no deterrent will save you. I witnessed2 pros who had already got access to a Chrysler trying the front door, hence my security upgrades. My advice is alarm, camera, added security and leave the keys in an obvious position. I have heard horror stories when thieves can't find the keys. Make sure you have GAP and then just move on, life is too short. |
