Anyone installed sound deadening in their car before?
Foloowing the thread on upgrading the stereo and soundproofing the car to improve stereo performance I started looking in to sound proofing improvements generally, as this is one thing I do think could be better on the F30.
I spoke to this company this morning: http://www.nkgroup.co.uk/product-category/vehicles/ They do a kit for £200 and will fit at their site in Oldham for £90 or do a mobile service nationwide for £170. The kit weighs about 20kg, which I can live with if it works! So just wondered if anyone has any experience of this? The kit includes - addition bonnet soundproofing which goes under the existing cover, sections that go under the footwells, back seats, arches, boot. They provide the door sections but won't fit them due to complexity of the electrics there, and suggest that they're fitted by a BMW dealer when the car gets serviced. http://www.nkgroup.co.uk/product/car...ngine-blanket/ The cost looks reasonable to me, so contemplating being the forum guinea pig !

I've just started with a dynamat clone in mine.
Both front doors are now done and solid - Doesn't really make a difference to noise insulation but the rather pants standard fit sound system does sound a load better. just had the front wheel arch liner out on the drivers side its a bit of a PITA but managed to completely cover the front half. The rear half is a fabric / card / not plastic type material which was a nightmare but I managed to get a couple of strips added. It dawned on me after I'd put everything back together that the 9mm Dodomat hadn't arrived ( i ordered it weeks ago and I've been busy and forgot about it :-S ) so I'll have to do it all again when it gets here. Initial impression is that even with only one side done, there is about 10% less road roar. I'm going to hold off doing any more until the rest of my order arrives.. then I'll hit it again. I am interested in what you do with this... I'd be up for a tootle down to Oldham. |

Very interesting! When I spoke to them on the phone today they said the doors are actually not that critical. He seemed to think doing the floor and arches and bonnet would make the biggest difference. Makes sense when we're talking about diesel clatter and road noise I suppose!
Your experience so far seems to back that up?
