BMW E90 Alarm Anti-Theft Activation Programming

Just installed an alarm system on my 2009 BMW. The only thing that worked was the red blinking light on the rear view mirror. So it looks like I need to have it programmed/activated at the dealership. Called around and the BMW dealerships quoted me a price of $149 plus they need the car for the entire day.

Does that price seem right?
Do they really need my car for the entire day?
Is the BMW dealership the best option to have the alarm activated?

It sounds as though they're charging for one (1) hour of labor (maybe a minimum
labor charge). Why they need it for an entire day is for their convenience - not
yours.

I see you're in CT - did you try giving Herb Chambers in Sudbury, MA a call?

If you don't have the ability to individually code items (or know someone that does) - then $149 isn't bad.

The dealer cannot code individual items as we do - they need to recode the entire car to activate the alarm - this process can take from 1 hr up to several hrs depending on whether the coding goes thru the 1st time or not - that's prolly while they are wanting the car all day - just in case...
