Need new breaks and rotors (09 e90)
So I went to get an oil change and said I need new front and rear breaks and rotors. So they quoted me around $850 which I thought was a little steep
Any one know what are good pads and rotors I can get? Also if they reduce break dust that would be good. Found a local guy that can do me the labor pretty cheap compared to bmw So ay ideas on which ones to get ? Or go with factory pads?Thanks Car has 48k miles |

I got these last year and I'm happy with them. They are better than stock, no more brake dust everywhere.

I would take a look at the pads myself before going off of a "recommendation" by the oil change place. Do your current breaks break ok? Or are you just worried that if you don't change them soon they might brake the next time you try and use the breaks?
Whatever you do, don't go to the dealership; their prices will more than likely brake the bank. |

I did Zimmerman Z coated blanks around $150 for rear disks and about $180 for front blanks. Quality stuff. I chose Porter field R4-S pads. They were $207. Then about $30 for new sensors. I chose those pads over ceramic as my rims are matte black so I don't care about the dust and didn't want to sacrifice the initial bite of the OEM feel. The job can be done yourself pretty easy and will cost you half of that.

First time BMW owner and I need some help figuring out my next move. I have an 09 E90 328i that needs (I think) new breaks. My front indicator says about 46k miles and the rear says 77k. I have about 55k miles on the card.
I faintly feel the breaks when I’m at a complete stop. It is barely noticeable. I’m getting tons of break dust and would like to avoid in the future if possible. I also want to avoid going to the dealer to get a FOB read. Any suggestions? |

Brake= hardware on the car.
break= reduce to pieces, or take some time off It's hard to read these things sometimes when the wrong word is used. Unless forum speak like "Tho" or "hte" -- anyways. Damn! what was the question...??? edit: The English Language is hard I know... It's all about context.

So I had to read again...
But do not go for the ebay brakes. Bad news! I did the same thing with my Jeep Grand Cherokee and the rotors warped within 2 months. Just imagine on a car that you actually do more spirited braking with. These brakes are as simple as pouring molten steel into a casting and craving out what is not needed so it looks spotless and shiny like a rotor should look like. Get something like OEM or with "High Carbon" content. With High Carbon brakes -- the brake rotors will be less likely to warp. Edit: I purchased "ProStop Platinum High Carbon Rotor" for my Jeep about 4 years ago at Pepboys and not a single problem. been through 2 sets of pads and no grooving or needing to be trued up. I have been doing quite a bit of research today on it before you asked the question. ECS brake rotors are a no, no! Made in China and Taiwan. For brake pads -- I would suggest EBC "Red Stuff". Less brake dust and it won't break the bank... Best bet -- go to TireRack.com and put your car's info and select the brake info and there should be a host of parts for you with many different price points. BTW: Sorry for the prior trolling -- I just couldn't help it.

I am very happy with stop tech street performance pads and the Zimmerman Z coated rotors. No issues, braking is quick and smooth. Thanks Harold @ HPShop.com!

Brembo rotors and Akebono pads.
You can go wrong on this combo To do both axels with pads, rotors, sensors and retaining clips, probably around $500.00 in parts. |
