First BMW order - Pricing help

I am new to the forum, and excited about getting my 1st BMW. There is a ton of great information/knowledge in here. I am hoping to get a bit of advice.

I just placed my order (6/2). I have no money in the game yet, but am preparing to negotiate with the dealer.

M Sport
Lighting Package

Driver Assistance Package

Premium Package

Technology Package
harman/kardon Sound
Heated Front Seats
Estoril Blue

Invoice Price:
$42,260
MSRP: $46,000

Dealer Offer: $44,170 (includes incentive)

What would be a good price to shoot for?

Since it is ordered, should I haggle pricing now or wait until delivery?

Is there any less negotiating leverage when placing an order?

Are you related to the other guy who just posted a similar question?

What incentive is available? I don't put in an order until the sales person meets my price. I imagine you can get the car for around 43,500 without an incentive, but maybe not in the bay area. If $1,000 means anything to you, shop a little further south to see if you can swing something better.

I wouldn't place an order without an agreed to price. Any incentives that come up afterwards are automatically applied until the actually delivery date.

With 228s you can get a lot closer to invoice. If you are a Costco member use their buying service.

Also if you are a BMWCCA member for over a year you will get a $500 additional rebate.

The dealer has had poor communication about the process so far. The order was placed and the price was stated, however, I have not agreed to any price as of yet and have not been required to give a deposit.

As others have mentioned i would not have ordered the car without agreeing the price FIRST. Once you've waited 8 weeks for the car the dealer has all the levarage, he knows you're not going to go elsewhere and wait ANOTHER 8weeks. You need to negotiate this ASAP so that if you dont get what you want you can walk.
