Another iPod integration question...2011 335i

Just bought a gently used 2011 335i with iDrive, nav, voice control, HDD media player, aux only in the center console, no Bluetooth. I asked my local stealer if I could retrofit with iPod or Bluetooth integration and he told me "NO". From what I can tell, this BMW part should at least let me hook up my ipod directly via the Y cable and control the iPod via the car controls.http://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/10...ERFACE-ADAPTER

My 2 questions, will this work for my vehicle and will I have to "re-code" the car to get this to work?
