? about retrofitting headunit with built in usb/bluetooth

I purchased a lci headunit that has the built in usb and Bluetooth for my 2008 L7 equipped car. I'm told it's already coded for the usb and Bluetooth but the seller can't or doesn't know how to code it for logic 7. It does have the fiber optic connection. I was told that the L7 can't be coded in the car and it must be bench coded by someone for it to work. Is that correct and does anyone on here offer that service.

Thanks!

You have to have one with Fiberoptics

You have to have one with Fiberoptics to run the L7 amp and any
of the options that use the Most Bus.
Also switching between stereo types required a ICOM interface at
some point I don 't know exactly when. ICOM=Fiberoptic INterface.
I thought everbody did it while it was in the car but I don't see
why you couldn't do it when it was on a bench if you had the right
software and interface.
Elliott@DetailAddict this guy does coding for hire in Santa Clara
I would get in touch with him.
You should be able to find a coder in LA.
But you need to look here

Will do. I talked with alex@alpine and he said I shouldn't need to code it before installing. He did say since I bought it from the UK it may have older software and the logic 7 May not communicate well if I have the newest software on my car. If so he said he may need to update the software. Either way when I receive it I'll let you know what needed to be done.

The head units with USB and bluetooth are new.

The head units with USB and bluetooth are new.
Installing one in a older car requires a temporary change
in the build date to spoof the software to install the proper files.
At the same time some have needed the ICOM interface to change
from Hi Fi or whatever they start out with to something else.

There is a thread here on the process to change it but it doesn't
mention the ICOM I think.

Just an update received my head unit last week and got my usb cable a few days ago. Installed everything and it worked fine just no sound. No worries though alex@alpine was able to get it all sorted! Wasn't super easy but he got me taken care of.

It would be nice to know what he did

It would be nice to know what he did
to add to the knowledge base.
As in could he change it with a simple programming
cable and what lines of code were changed.
Who is alex?
So he shipped you a setup so he do it remotly?

Yes a vendor on the forum.I'm honestly not sure exactly what he did and seeing as I had to pay to have it done I doubt he is willing to tell us. But he did it remotely using my k+dcan cable.

That at least means it can be done without icom

That at least means it can be done without icom
Was the price reasonable?
How long did it take?

icom is the fiberoptic programming head that some
say is necessary for changing the programming between
stereo , hi fi and L7 in some model years.

From what I have understood guys have been able to code the Rad2 by changing the VO and then writing the whole car. You can't code the Rad2 with NC-SEXpert

It was $60 and that included coding my car with as many options as I wanted, like opening and closing windows with key fob, ect. Probably took half hour but he had never done it before. Now would probably take him 5 minutes. Money well spent. He also was able to change the vin on the radio so should I need any programming at the dealer I shouldn't need to put my stock head unit in.

Sounds like it was well worth it.

But you can change which options are enabled
inside rad2 but don't know if I have seen the Vin
number inside my rad file I did read it out and store
it our of curiosity.
