Alpine Retrofit + Logic 7 Subs? Do need hifi coding?

Hi all,

I am thinking of doing a basic upgrade to my base stereo.

I have a business nav i-drive on e90 2006 325i

I am looking to get the dealer to install

1. Alpine retrofit kit
2. I will be looking to upgrade the stock subs to Logic 7 subs

I wanted to ask if the dealer will re-code the HU to hifi as part of the install? or if I will need some support from some one on the forum to do this for me remotely.

If any one has any advice it would be great

thanks

Your 2006 will not need any coding to HiFi if the correct Alpine kit (there are 2 kits: one for 09/09-on and one for pre-09/09 -OEM documentation is posted in the forum) is installed in your car.

Thanks Technic!

Will it not work at all? or is it simply not recommended for my model?

I am hoping to get a good improvement compared to my standard stereo with Alpine retrofit + L7 subs

Thanks!

Hi all, I just got the alpine kit installed the other day. I also had to replace my bluetooth module so all up it cost $1200. Apparently they to re-code for my bluetooth module which alone was $300. so it was around 800 to 900. abit pricey. I bought the kit from getbmwparts from the states

ouch - i would not have recommended this approach. Alpine kit should have had NOTHING to do with any BT (MULF or TCU).

Hi Taibanl, to clarify my bluetooth module died before I installed the kit. I ended up just getting both installed at the same time.

You are right it had nothing to do with the installation of the Alpine kit.

The issue that I have now is that the sound on the alpine kit sounds crap. It is very boomy and I believe this is due to BMW not coding my car to hifi.

What is the difference between pre lci and lci Alpine retrofit kits?

Is it possible to install lci kit to pre lci?

Main differences are wiring/connectors and Alpine OEM amp input settings.
