Been in Florida 1 week and got hit...
I recently moved from CA to Florida for a life change and its been good so far upto today. It sure didn't take long before i get hit in the rear. The other driver was a young kid and fell asleep. I'm not mad and i told the kid to not stress about it and that the insurance companies will take care of it all. He was very nice and honest and even told the police that he fell asleep. Even though i got hit in the rear i felt bad for the kid. I remember my first accident when i was 18 and rear ended the car in front of me but it was just minor bumper damage.
No one was majorly hurt, but i do have some whip lash. I was actually thinking about trading the car in sometime soon for a newer 2012 Sedan 328 for the better gas mileage, but after i get it re-repaired it'll probably be a month before it gets repaired and then i'll loose value from the accident. Whats even worse is that my A/C no longer works after being hit... I have no idea why that went out or how the collision caused it but it won't turn on anymore. Is it possible to get the insurance company to pay out for the loss in value from the accident or do i just have to accept it and move on? I know California law, but I'm not sure how Florida law works exactly. I actually just heard from the cop Florida is a No Fault state and I still need to look that up and I'm not even sure what that entails The good thing is that the X5 is a tank! The car got hit pretty hard and didn't take much damage.

Have any of you visited the DMV? These three states are collectively home to the countries worst drivers, where a single drop of rain can lengthen your commute by 45mins.
OP, the x5 surely is a tank. It looks like the hulk punched the kids car. |

Your lucky you were in a car, apparently in Florida you are like 10 times more likely to be run over while walking than anywhere else in the country.
Good luck fixing the x5 she took it well!

Miami by far has the craziest driving I have ever seen. Plus, you have to dodge the crazy crack-heads unpredictably walking through busy traffic. A couple months ago I saw a homeless person sitting on his blanket begging for change... in the middle of two lanes on an exit ramp.

Hmmm...sounds like CA so OP's not going be new to this. Everyone forgets how to drive once the rain kicks in!

- In thick, soupy fog, they continue to drive 70+mph. In the dark. - In the rain, they speed up, because god forbid if they get wet, the rain water might fucking kill them. - Travel clock-wise in traffic circles. - Stops in traffic circles - Merging into traffic circles without looking or yielding - If you can't get into the left turn lane because the cars are lined up, waiting at a red light, drive up to the median. It's ok if you kick up a bunch of dust in the process and spray other cars with debris. - Cut across 3 lanes on the freeway because fuck everybody. Your need to get off that freeway far exceeds the need of everyone else on the road to want to drive safely. I'm a transplant from SoCal, and I used to think we have bad drivers at home. Turns out we have crazy, but not stupid driver. Fresno is crazy AND stupid. It's the country bumpkin mentality and a giant cup of asshole mixed in together. |

I'm actually pretty sure I'm selling it. It's a fun car to drive but the gas on it is killing me. Its the v8 model so i average 13mpg and the only time i got 20mpg was on the highway. If it wasn't for that I'd keep it. I thought about the X1, but i might end up getting a hybrid or something. I want to be able to explore Florida all the way down to they key's on many occasions and with the low mpg that car gives it makes it a lot harder on my pocket book lol.
