Cost of 1st M3 E92 Service?

I thought the cost of the 1st service (2,000 Kms) for the E92 M3 here in Mexico is quite high, US$550. What are other guys paying in their respective countries? Obviously, the purchasing power in different countries affect the pricing policy. But I will be interesting to compare. :sad0147:

Pancho, looks like you got ripped off by the dealer . Besides and oil change, what could possibly need to be serviced in a brand new car that would cost so much.

Do the ///M cars in the US get the 4yrs. Free service for the first 4yrs / 50,000 miles like all standard BMW's?

For US customers, services will be free for the first 50,000 miles or 4 years. WHichever comes first.

Well, someone from Europe also reported being charged a similar amount. Anyway, I agree it is a rip off. Next service is at 12,000 Kms.

I believe it was posted that the dealership tried to charge them for the break-in service and then they confronted it. The dealership ended up conceding and doing the service for free as it should of been.

You may want to check your warranty for your country and get back to the dealership about it. Why would they sell you a car with a mandatory service only 2km after you bought it? If that was true the service charge would just be included in the original pricing of the car I think.

The first service should always be free, at least in Ireland it is.

Is it easy to do an oil change yourself in the M? I know it's supposed to be free in the US for x years or x miles, but what about after that? I'm used to doing most service by myself, but have never owned a BMW so I'm not sure what it entails.

Not sure about in the US, but over here in the UK I wouldn't dream of it as it would have a serious impact on resale value ina car like this. People want to know that it has been meticulously maintained by a BMW dealer before parting with any cash on the used market.

Ah that sucks. Since this is pretty pricey car that might be the way to do it.

Just re-checked my order form and it seems that here in Switzerland you get something called "BMW Service Plus" which gives you free service up to 100,000 km or 10 Years (which ever comes first). This is not to be confused with the Garantie which covers 100,000 km or 3 years (which ever comes first).

The BMW Service Plus seems to be part of the standard BMW package here as my mate has a 335 in Switzerland and got the same thing.

That's a total rip-off. Even an M car doen't cost that much. The first service on most cars is an oil change and if they are charging over $500 for it then there is something wrong. Go back and check it with BMW India unless you have money to burn.
