More BOOM!
Hey guys
I recently purchased Tech Harness and added an XD 700/5 amp to power the speakers and sub but I think I'm going to be adding an amp to power the sub alone. How can I add onto the harness? Do I connect amp 1 to amp 2? Or just do it as if I was starting from scratch? Thanks in advance. |

Since you don't have pre-outs on the xd700/5 you can connect the front rca's from the Technic harness to a set of y connection rca's and run to both the xd700 and the new sub amp.

You could also make sure that the second amp you buy has RCA pre-outs, then simply run another set of RCAs from the new amp to the XD700 sub input.

If you have already run 4ga or larger powerline to your first amp you could just add a distribution block at the amp location.

You can use 8-gauge up to 1000 total watts RMS (even a little more if necessary), as long as the run is no longer than 5 or 6 feet. I hate how thick 4 gauge is, and it does not tuck easily under the floor panel. I had no voltage drops whatsoever with 8 gauge on both amps (900W and 600W).

I wouldn't use 8 gauge for 1000 watts regardless of how short the run is. I have 4 gauge to my xd600/6 and 0 gauge to my sub amp. I ran my 4 gauge wire through the rear deck instead of under the trunk panels.
