Custom sail panels for Morel Piccolo tweeters

I was playing around with a set of blank sail panels and tweeters I had lying around the house when I realized that the Piccolos should theoretically fit. I spoke to a friend of mine, who does great fabrication work (he has been competing in car audio since he was a teenager), and he agreed to fabricate some sail panels for the Piccolos for me:

Thanks! They are a large format tweeter ... shrunken slightly for a car. Should provide for a nice soundstage. He likes to angle the tweeters in the pods as his experience is that aiming tweeters towards the top corner of the opposite door (usually near the seatbelt hanger) provides the best soundstage.

Fantastic! What will be driving them and what is the other half of your front stage?

Wish I had some Piccolo's "lying around"...

Best of both worlds: large format tweet, in a small format housing. Best compromise to an Esotar110 or Scan large format??

Would love to see a mock placement in the car. To the untrained observer, it could ALMOST, MIGHT pass as OEM. Just say it was a BMW Individual upgrade

Thanks. I bought a JL XD600.6, the defacto standard, without really doing any research. I've booked an appointment to get stuff installed so it will do for now, but I'm thinking Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 in the near future.

I have already installed HAT L4SEs in the doors and Jehnert 8" flatlines under the seats. I plan to run a cable from the amp to the tweeters so that I can go active. So the end result will be:

OEM HU -> Mobridge DA2 -> Helix DSP -> JL XD 600.6 -> Piccolos + L4SEs + Jehnerts

Also plan to have a Dynaudio Esotar 1200 installed IB in the trunk. I heard it IB in a CTS-V and it sounded great. Quite a few folks on DIYMA have run the Dyn IB with good results. The specs say it won't work IB, but you can't always go by specs. Power will be from a JL XD1000.1 initially and if I end up going Arc Audio, I may switch to the Arc Xdi 1100.1

I heard the Piccolos in someone's car and decided to try them because they sounded so great. I happened to get a great deal on a new/open box pair from an authorized dealer so I bought them. Then I got sidetracked by a set of Focal Be No. 6. (I always seem to have a few tweeters lying around that I want to try.)

I'll have them installed in the next few days and should have pics later next week.
