Installed JB4 - 2 sensor plugs didn't snap fit - CEL
There is a garage near where I work that has done a lot of my work on my previous and current car so I know them very well. My service advisor and the manager cleared a bay and assisted me with installing the JB4.
For the first 2 sensors, TMAP and MAP, the JB4 plugs did not snap into place and we had to use cable ties to hold them in place. Is this normal? The plugs only fit in one way and I double checked, my JB4 is marked "N55 S2". The other sensors snapped in place perfectly. After the install, the car started fine and no CELs. I went to drop something off at a friend's house. Probably drove 3-4 miles. Then when I started it up again, I got the following codes: P0101 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range/Performance Problem P0237 - P0237 Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit Low P1001 - don't know what this means I'll check all the connections again but the first 2 sensor plugs not snapping in kind of unnerved me. Any help would be most appreciated. |

Should snap together perfectly, if not then something is wrong. As simple as it sounds, make sure they're oriented properly

I'm sure they could if you push them hard enough. They should glide ride in and snap. Send BMS pictures of your install and they'll get you sorted. They have really good customer service

Thanks. I kept thinking it was odd that they wouldn't snap in (did manage to break off the %$% tab on the TMAP sensor, but that's another story). Hopefully its just a question of reversing those two plugs. I just don't know why BMS couldn't have just made a new install manual for the N55 instead of having to refer to the N54 manual, especially since the N54 looks different. Instead, they have N55 stage 1 and stage 2 rolled into one and on top of that refer to the N54 manual. For a non-gearhead its a bit daunting.

I hear ya but if you
Go slowly and double check everything the install shouldn't be too difficult just wait until your Car stalls at every traffic light like mine does, then you really have a headache on your hands

Thanks. The unit is marked "N55 S2" but its possible it was marked that in error. Is that the difference between N55 and N54? The first two sensor plugs are different? I did order TMAP harness B and I know that is correct from the picture and build date of my car.

Whats the build date of the car? If the build date is January 2011 or earlier then you need harness A. If its February 2011 or later you need Harness B. The January / February months are hit or miss so if the build date is that you should post a pic of the Harness and I can identify it for you. Mike |
