F31 Loading Sill Protective Mat or Protective Bootspace Cover
Anyone got any experience of these. Would like a little extra protection when loading a lot of stuff in and out of the boot.
I feel the bootspace cover is probably slightly more useful for if I have to carry rubbish to the dump etc as it would protect the whole boot. But would be good to know of any real world experiences. Looking at the genuine BMW ones as I know these would fit 100% though I know there are alternatives 20-30 quid cheaper..... Thanks Neil |

I have the E91 version of this and will be getting the F31 version.
Very good bit of kit and no issues with dog or bodies in back. http://www.ukcustomcovers.com/collec...ing-boot-liner |

I've got the OEM boot liner, the all black one. It's great, fits perfectly, is easy to take out if you need to access some of the extra storage, things don't slide around on it at all, and it's taken some pretty sharp and nasty stuff so far with no ill effects to date. Made of a sort of rubbery plastic. Also has these side pocket things, logo'd up as you'd expect, which are useful (eg. stowed a badly shattered iphone in there at the weekend to stop getting glass shards anywhere else).
My old man has a cheaper non OEM one in his X3, its made of a more plasticky plastic with a sort of sticky anti slip mat. It works fine, fits OK but lacks the quality and flexibility of the genuine one IMO.

I've used an ebay special in my last car, as the previous poster said it works fine but looks a little bit cheap. However I'm not paying OEM prices for a boot liner, it's there to get filthy and marked, so I'll probably have another one off eBay.

I've had a sill protective mat for three years now and used it with a previous 5 Series Touring and now with a 3 Series Saloon. It is simple to attach and it protects not only the rear bumper but also your clothes. Worth whatever it costs.

I've just bought one of these: http://www.roofbox.co.uk/scripts/rbv...iGMIQiY.qGlY9W
(In case the above link doesn't work, it's the "Rezaw-Plast boot liner, black, no. RZ232120") Soft rubber; came rolled up like a carpet. Fits the boot pretty nicely, though doesn't go over the rear sill. The edges are raised slightly so you could pour a bit of water in it without damaging the carpet. Only had it for a few days, but seems good. |

Don't have one yet, but after looking around at various options I plan to use hatchbag. Looked at some protective bases but need the side protect, mostly from a dog who likes to get muddy!! Would like to know how quickly / easily hatchbag is to fit and remove, and how much space it takes to store when not in use?

I'm the same, looking for full cover not just the base. Don't have a dog but just taking garden rubbish can't half make a mess of the carpet!! (although I plan to use wifeys Golf where possible for those trips )
Thanks for the replies and comments, think I'll go for the BMW full cover |

We have had a Hatchbag in our CR-V for the past 8 years. Got it largely for protection from a pushchair. On that car it is a bit of a faff to remove, and when you need to fold down the seats, but not too bad. Outs is a grey one and does have lots of marks on it, but it kept the interior trims nice and does the jobs very well. We only remove for cleaning.
Given that the F31 has carpeted sides (CR-V had hard plastic), we just got the BMW rubber boot mat, about £68 from the local dealer, does the job very nicely.

Just ordered an F31 boot liner from Custom covers.
The E91 one I am removing has been excellent, considering the amount of dog and dead things that have had in the back, it's very tidy. No real migration of dalmatian hairs on to the carpeting. The zips make dropping rear seats much easier. So I will stick to what has proved to work best for me. I imagine the majority of boot liners all work as well. |

I've had this back from BMW to check the part numbers to ensure they are the correct parts. Anyone know how I can check?
