Enabled Adaptive Headlights use in USA - Did you think about this?

I was just thinking of another major set of Mods enabled through Coding that will be changed as soon as the car gets back in the states. I will certainly do the standard set of changes to get rid of legal disclaimers, chimes, lock settings, mirror functions etc but this time re-enabling the Anti-Dazzle feature on adaptive headlights is perhaps the best Mod for coding and will make the $1900 lighting package worthwhile.

I did have two questions prior to doing this change:

1. How would this feature be possible on a multi-lane highway? Where would the light go with cars on your left and right. Most interstates with 4-6 lanes for both lanes of traffic in the northeast would make it challenging if not impossible for feature to work, especially when most of these roads do not have a tall barrier separating opposing lanes of traffic? My assumption is that it would just remain off?

2. I imagine on two lane roads with homes near the road that the lights would be diverted to point toward windows creating a nuisance. I think the answer for 1 and 2 lie if the high beam is simply diverted toward the sky if it detects an object whether its a car or a home. My neighbors would just love me flashing my intense high beams their way every time I came home.

3. I also wonder how this would help with Deer who are blinded by headlights and freeze. I live in an area with backroads that have deer and my thought is that if my car is diverting brighter light away from a moving object on the road like a deer or even a pedestrian that it would cause a early visibility issue. Conversely with the deer not having to deal with flashing high beam it would stand to reason it would just move on thus helping to avoid an impact. This would be useful. Thoughts?

4. Any others scenarios you would add?

I don't know how to answer these questions, but I imagine that engineers have taken care of all those scenarios:

In Germany
- the Autobahn has multiple lanes with only guard railing where beams once in a while go over or under
- we have streets with houses close by
- we have a lot of areas where deer actually crosses the road (only the Autobahn is fenced in)

So again - not knowing the feature in particular - I assume that all this is working just fine. I will definitely re-activate every additional light feature there is

SO are there not further parts, motors, sensors etc required for this? For the US do they ship Xenon and LED light enabled cars with the exact same hardware modules but disable the software function?

You must have LED Lighting package installed as this has the sensors necessary for feature to work.

Thanks I thought as much as you can have Xenon option in UK with or without adaptive.

anyone who wants this done ... send me a PM once you get your car ... can be enabled through remote coding in less than 10 minutes!

I don't charge anything for remote coding .... you just need an ENET Cable and a Windows laptop with wifi and ethernet ports.

don't have an ENET cable ... I sell one at parts costs to facilitate helping with remote coding ... $20 shipped .... *****************

I have enabled this on my 550xi and it is amazing!

So we don't need E-SYS to code this up if we do it remotely? How does that work?

I'll be getting a cable from you soon and this aspect is very intriguing as i would save on the E-SYS license fee.

Don't have any experience, but at $300 for coding that is quite expensive. You should buy the cable offered in this forum and take advantage of the free coding help offered by the seller. The cable is only $20 and he ships quickly.

Let me know when you're ready ... should take about 10 minutes at most to code that feature back on!

I think the adaptive light tech is developed for Europe and im not so sure it will work as good in the US.
They probably work best on dark two lane backroads and two lane in each direction highways ,and if you often drive in well lit roads i don't think you will have much benefit from it.

Ok .... and what is different from Europe to USA as far as the technology is concerned? It is clearly developed for the EU market as USA DOT laws are ancient and the reason why we don't have it here. Both USA and some european countries have LHD vehicles ... so I feel the point should be WHERE you plan to use them (urban/sub-urban/rural) ... obviously dark, un-lit(by street lights) roads are where you will see the most performance ... however in my sub-urban area ... I get frequent use of the technology on a nightly basis on my 550xi with LED headlights and Dazzle coded back on

I think because the often diffrent road types in the US vs Europe mostly around citys but if you drive in the US on a dark 2 lane backroad in the woods for example i dont think there should be no diffrens.
And yes most of Europe have LHD vehicles.

Just for shits and giggles, I did a Google Image Search for "Sweden Roads"

https://www.google.com/search?q=swed...=1851&bih=1115

Really the only thing I can see in Swedish roads is that in the city there are dedicated lanes for the light rail (something that US cities like San Francisco have). Aside from that, I might as well be looking at pictures of roads here in the USA.
