Possible CEL fix for catless DP's

http://www.bigdaddiesgarage.com/mini-cat-cel-fix.html

Right, so I had that in my 1.8t mkiv GTI catless DP with a 90-degree elbow before I got an APR tune, and it worked. But, that was a '06 VW/Audi ECU, not BMW DME.

Has anyone tried this on the n55? Has anyone tried this on a different BMW engine and found it works? Bueller?

tried , didn't return anything

From what I've read it seems like there is a fix for the N54, but nothing for the N55 as of right now.

Both the Cobb and jb4 should clear the CEL from downpipes.

That just hides it from the dash. Come emissions time it will be detected.

Exactly! But with the mini cats in between the o2 sensor and the downpipe, the O2's reach readiness state and never throw a CEL, therefore allowing us to pass emission.

There is really no way of knowing for sure unless someone tries it out and returns with a passed inspection.

Except I have not seen it work for any BMW yet.

Please point is to something that shows it does. Many of us are waiting for anything that will prevent the flag.

'preciated. will report back with results once it's done. won't be too quick, need another paycheck or two, but will be an actual fix instead of the Cobb or JB4 just not displaying the CEL

Yeah there are two o2 sensors that go into the downpipe. You don't need a 90 degree one. I've been using the ones I posted the link for for a little while now and have had auto clear off on my jb4 and still no code. So they work, at least on my car.

Put my VRSF downpipe on today which was a MAJOR PITA btw. Only one of the mini cats actually fit so I think I'm probably going to get a CEL soon, I'll keep you updated.

The fitment doesn't really allow for the mini cats because they're so long. maybe with another brand the 02 sensors go in a different place?
