Arrow first BMW X1 test mule pics captured!

Although based on the architechture of the 1er And to be shared with the MINI proposal . The design will offer an individual look seperated from the next generation 1er.

The MINI will be clothed in a small Compact and adventurous take on the MINI's styling with the famous MINI grille becoming much enlarged.
Although this car will share a platform with MINI it is not Same architechture different body style.

The MINI's drivetrain will be programmed differently likewise the X1.

The MINI will definetely not be called "Moke" Some Proposals feature the Clubmans Club door access. These proposals featured labeling the "MINI Clubman X" , Some called the MINI "Four" . One thing is certain though is that BMW do not want to use the Cooper name with the MINI SAV although engines will remain the same. The preference is more to "lifestyle" packages.

Also greenlighted today was a Small Z Roadster. Think a modern interpretation of the BMW Z1 - Elegant, compact and dynamically sporty - a modern interpretation of the Z1 Concept.

Why the expansion of smaller focused performance and lifestyle orientated cars?

In this segment sales are rocketing and projected sales are even expected to increase as people downsize and more younger enthusiasts come to the market. The 1er Coupe and Cabrio are the first step but there are many, many more to come. Including BMW's much talked about "City Concept for the Future" I have never seen so many eyes light up when the the sketches were unveiled.

X1, X3, X5, X6, and now even the V-series. Talk about going a little overboard with models...

and the wheels look bimmer. YEah I dont like what BMW is doing with so many models. They should make less models better made rather than more models which will not be as well designed.

OH HELL NO!!! I hope they do a decent job on this. I know it has camo on and you really can't tell much but i just have a gut feeling this car won't turn out nice for production.

Usually the best indicator is the license plate, the first letter, M = Munich, which 90% of the time means its a BMW.

BMW's gone launch trigger happy. X6, V-series, X1, concept CS, 1 series. I've never heard of a brand busting out so many new models at once.

So I'm confused. Looking at the pics I think I see next model X3. Reading what Jason posted am I looking at a Mini? Reading the title I see X1. What the heck is this?

It's NOT an X1. It's the new X3, says Insideline.

It is an X3.

MUNICH, Germany — The first prototype for BMW's all-new 2010 X3 has broken cover, and spy photographers caught it in action yesterday on the streets of Munich.

Despite the heavy camouflage, the sleekness of the revamped X3's new shape is unmistakable. From this first look, it seems that a little more "sportwagen" has crept into the new X3's exterior design. The X3 continues to ride on a BMW 3 Series platform, but it has been stretched and widened for additional functionality.

From an earlier X3 test mule cloaked in 3 Series wagon sheet metal, we have already surmised that the future X3 will get a redesigned suspension setup compared to the current model.

Expect additional mechanical specifications to continue to leak into the media as the X3 nears its launch date.

What this means to you: Bigger would be better for BMW's baby SUV. — Kelly Toepke, News Editor
