Question New Car Recommendations!

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a new car to replace my X1 35i. Not really looking for anything specific or have any needs to be honest. Just something to daily drive that is still fun and exciting to drive. Looking for something up to $55,000!

A little info about me, I'm 21, about to graduate college and have found a nice job where I can afford this car. Drive about 40 miles a day, take road trips often. No kids, no wife; just me.

I know this is very general, but any good recommendations?

I'm currently looking into a 2013 M3 ($69K), but it's just a bit out of my price range. Still considering it though.

Thanks!

Are you only open to a new BMW? For a few thousand more you can pick up a GT500 off a dealer lot with some incentives. That is a whole lotta car/power for the price IMHO.

I definitely have thought about a GT Premium, but not the GT500. $70K for me is just a bit too much right now though. I'm still on the fence about the M3, and I think that's my price barrier for now, even with it being just a few thousand lower than the GT500. But, no, I'm really open to anything! Of course, coming from a BMW that I loved, I want to stay with BMW, but I really am open to anything.

I know - it was a warning.

Why don't you give us some details: What do you like to do outside of commuting, what are your hobbies, what are you looking for in a car?

You can pick up a nicely spec'd M235 for that kind of money....

Hobbies are rock climbing, traveling, kayaking, and that's really it. Again, like I said, I'm just looking for something fun to drive, that I could stand traveling with. I mostly just take short drives during weekdays and drive about 100 miles a day on weekends.

F30 335i w/ M Sport

2015 C400 w/ Sport Package

Both loaded with power and technology. Both have plenty of space.

Want something wilder?

Used E9X M3 or used W204 C63 AMG.

Loads of options, even outside the BMW brand. Go test drive a ton of shit and let us know what you end up with. I happen to think that a Toureg TDI or Tiguan would fit the bill nicely.

Why only the 2013 M3? You could look at 2009 models even which are pretty much the same thing as a 2013 and save a lot of money.

Used E90 M3.
Used 997
Last generation Mustang GT
Evo X.
WRX/STI
Anything in stick.

I would stay away from Audi products / F30s / F10s. The steering just is NOT the same, regardless of how many new owners rave about it (unless you're going to mod the boost)

If you don't get an SUV do have means to transport your kayak and other gear?

Love it! Now I'm exploring a 2013 M3 (new) for $69K, or 2014 Cayman S (used--7K miles) for $66K.

Will post links when I get on my laptop.

Love the 335xi, but can't find one near me.

Would travel for one, but just doesn't seem worth it, especially since I'm able to get an M3.
