Has anybody added the black kidney grills to their 2 series?

I am strongly considering getting the black kidney grills to my jet black 228i but I was wondering if anybody has any pictures of it on their 2 series.

Those look really good. Are you happy with the appearance in person?

I will be adding the black grills Monday @ IND as well as the color matched bumper reflectors and tint. 3 simple cosmetic mods give it nice a crisper look.
Glacier silver m235i, pick it up Sat

Will they be selling color matched door trim as well? Ideally I would like to have all the chrome bits around the doors match the jet black of the rest of the car.

I've spoken with those guys on the phone and gotten some stuff from them. They'll relist when they sell out and have told me they'll beat any price for OEM.

No, this thread just reminded me to go on Ebay and purchase a pair if I find a good deal.

I will say that I wanted to go all black with mine and get CF mirrors, black grilles, and black panel decal. However, after being in the car for a bit, I have found that the lines of the stock grille match the lines of the lights and connect with the lines of the stock mirrors. I think it all goes together extremely well. Now, when I see a car with a mixture of both, I cringe to myself. Note I'm saying "to myself" because to each their own, but my personal preference is only go one way or the other if you're getting a complete set.

ALL of the above can be completely offset for a 228i with color-matched mirrors and silver window trim. Could be completely different.

That looks quite good on the black. I really like the black window trim as well.

Yup. They just added more after selling out of their original allotment.

I couldn't be happier. I had flat black on one of my E92s, but glossy black is the way to go IMO.

Anyone have a DIY breakdown on putting these in? I saw someone cut out the slats of the factory grill to get to the tabs, but I'd rather not do this.

No need to cut anything. I did this using just a torx screwdriver to remove the six screws that hold the front of the bumper cover to the top of the car. There is a good install guide over on the F30 site that give step by step that I used. Scale of 1 to 10 (10 be a master mechanic) I rate this as "2". You will be able to keep your stock grills without any damage that you can paint, sell, or reuse later if you sell or trade the car.
