How do you say Hi?

I've always wondered in the BMW community when driving passed another general BMW or a specific model, how are you saying HI?

Are you waving, high beam, a nod?

Might be a dumb thread but always wondered what people do and if they get anything back. Most people I go passed in NJ have dark tints and I have no idea if they are looking lol.

Since there are wayyyyyyy too many BMW's in NJ you really have to look hard to see the enthusiasts. So I only bother to communicate with people with enthusiast models or tastefully modded cars. Gave a blue F10 M5 with NY plates a thumb up on rt 1 yesterday..

Ive gotten two. One was the bro nod and the other the high beam nod. But these were enthusiasts. 3 series are really common. Its the guys who mod them that usually give my car a second look.

Thumbs up if closed window.

Peace if window open.

Always give a thumbs up to modded BMWs or cars I like. But I won't be butthurt if they don't do it back.

They give a thumbs up back more often than not anyway.

If I've been cruising with them for a while, I will flash my hazards or my high beams if one of us is leaving..

Angry

I hate to say it but that is about how I have been greeted in South Florida from other BMW drivers. The Stereotype of a BMW owner unfortunately. A couple days a go a real clean E92 335is in white pulled up next to me and I gave a thumbs up and the guy gave me the look that I was bothering him. So pretty much felt like saying GFYS. I still give a thumbs up when I see a nice 335is.

Saying hi? To a fellow New Jersey driver??

Well now, that's just preposterous!

You like to live dangerously, don't you?

3 series are way to common , its like saying hi to everyone that owns a civic. Unless it is modified or something then it may be ok for some people , then again I think it is kind of childish or maybe I m just too old

i flash my hazards to say thanks when someone gets out of the left lane so i can pass.

i also flash to pass (high beams).

if someone is in the left lane ahead of me and the right lane is blocked i will wait until the right lane is clear and if the person in front doesnt move over i will flash my high beams (excuse me) and then flash my hazards after i pass them.

When i see any M car or a "nicely" modded 3 series on the streets I just give a thumbs up out of the window.

Why would you want to say "HI" to someone "driving another general BMW"? How did you even come up with the idea of people saying "HI" to each other in driving contexts?

I usually give the salute, or nod. I have been acknowledged by a few kids that rev there engines at me. Not sure if it's to say hi or wanting to race. lol. I've also had a time when some guy in a ford focus chased me down to compliment me. He said he has an e92 and liked my rim set up.
